Model 3 SR+ forced downgrade

Hi all,

I bought a SR+ a year ago for the price of a SR. Since I did receive the email ~6months ago stating they were going to be downgrading users. I have yet to be downgraded.

Has anyone experienced similar? My Tesla account does state it is a SR, but I still have the range/foglights etc. Also is this downgrade in any way linked to the current software version ? I haven't upgraded my software since I received the downgrade email (out of paranoia) even though I suspect the downgrade is not linked to the software like this.

Can anyone share if they've had a similar experience ?

Thanks

There are a lot of documented cases of EAP features being downgraded for those who didn't purchase, but I can't recall anyone in your situation.

I was one the benefactors of free EAP, and I tried to keep my mouth shut about it. They will probably come along at some point to recognize the error, but there's no way to tell until that happens. I had free EAP for over a year before purchasing the FSD upgrade. No idea if or when they would have caught me, but I wasn't going to bring light to my situation.

My car still thinks it's an SR+ with 240 miles. I'm on 2020.16.x, so the answer to your question- Tesla did NOT downgrade me from a firmware patch. Previous threads said the downgrades happened outside of firmware updates. When did you buy your car? I want to think that the reason I still have 240 miles is because my car came with an SR+ Monroney sticker but I can't be sure.

Bought a SR, but my car says it's a SR+ on the display with only 200 range. I do have immersive sound, fog lights, but missing range

If I may ask, how did you get free EAP? Did the car just came with it just like that, did you get it later on with the car purchase, or what happened exactly?

I have no idea to be honest.

My car was made April 1, 2019 and I purchased it on April 16. From day one I had all of the EAP features including NOA, Summon, and auto lane changes. I asked the delivery specialist a few days later and he suggested it might be a trial, but I never saw any communication indicating that.

My Tesla account always showed that I had standard autopilot, and the FSD upgrade was $7000. All of that changed last April when I noticed the upgrade cost was $4000 because my account showed that I had EAP. I always expected Tesla to realize the error and revoke these features up until this point, so I pulled the trigger on FSD for $4000 while I had the option. Now I have a paid invoice and HW3 installed, I don't expect them to try and take anything away. I think I just got lucky and took advantage of the error in the system while I had the chance.

Same situation for me. Bought car in April 2019 with an April build date. Had EAP or a trial of FSD per sales. Was told it was for two weeks then a month. I even think there was something on Tesla's website about the trial. Someone around here may even have a screen shot of it.

I kept my mouth shut and every time there was a software upgrade I crossed my fingers that the free "trial" would not be pulled.

Jumped on the FSD upgrade when it showed 4k for me. Of course now it is 3k! LOL! Either way, I did not pay for EAP so I got a 3k discount on FSD. Win-win!
