I received my VIN #s for MX and MS weeks in advance if delivery.
Does anyone know why I am hearing that the M3 VIN will not be released until about 3 days prior to delivery? I am unable to get a insurance premium estimate without it. Thanks

I was able to get my VIN about 2 weeks prior to delivery. Just ask your ISA if it's not showing up in your account.

Yes, it will not show up in your Tesla account until about a week before your scheduled delivery. I wound up calling the 800 number to get the VIN # weeks before delivery to satisfy a request by my insurance company for the VIN.

My Home Delivery Specialist provided me the VIN before I even had a solid delivery date. I suspect there are situations where they haven't actually selected the car designated to be yours, which is why the VINs take longer for some rather than others.

I got mine a few days before delivery. But I was definitely able to get insurance quote without it. That was with my current insurance company and calling around for others. Good luck!

I configured on Aug 15th, ISA sent me an email with VIN today and said expected delivery is sometime first week of Sep (Dallas). He said it rolled out of the factory 10 days ago.

Well, I don't have a VIN yet, and I'm supposed to take delivery on September 1st. Was wondering about this actually because it would be nice to get insurance beforehand.

If you only need an estimate then any VIN will do (they're all over the place) as long as you get (as appropriate) a RWD vs AWD/P one

I got my VIN via the Pro Forma MVPA that the ISA provided me so I could get my "3rd party lending together".

The MVPA I was provided only has my reservation number and my VIN is not on my online account. I take delivery in 8 days and I was provided a VIN via email about 10 days ago. Seems weird that it is not on my account.

One of the things I like about GEICO. If it came down to it I could open my app at the delivery center, plug in the VIN, get a quote, buy the policy and get the binder and ID card within about 3 minutes.

That part was nice - the part where they were $300 more than Progressive was not. Now I have policies across two insurance companies. :(

My IDA was able to get my VIN a day after I had scheduled delivery (8/24) earlier this week. My Tesla page doesn't show the VIN yet and it's been a couple days. Used the VIN to get my insurance quote.

It's my 3rd vehicle on the policy so it was only an additional $700 on my existing $100K/$300K coverage with $200 deduct on both comprehensive & collision with "New Car Replacement" until the M3 hits 15,000 miles, then gap insurance kicks in, which is useless to me since it should already be paid off.

Ugh. Sorry. I have tried to beat GEICO's price multiple times over the years. Progressive has consistently been higher for me.

My insurance was quoted as just $88/mo for the model. Not bad it seems? That’s bundled with another vehicle and homeowners but still

Yep - mine was cheap too. I took delivery of my model 3 on Saturday. Rarely are my expectations exceeded, but this car is amazing.

Yea they told me the same nonsense, if you press your sales advisor they'll give you the VIN. Tell them you need to get insurance and that your financing wont release funds if you dont have an insurance binder. Basically they're holding up the deal by holding up the VIN.
