I got mine a few days before delivery. But I was definitely able to get insurance quote without it. That was with my current insurance company and calling around for others. Good luck!

You should be able to call your agent and tell them RWD or AWD and get a quote... we could... VIN showed up a week before we got ours fwiw

If you only need an estimate then any VIN will do (they're all over the place) as long as you get (as appropriate) a RWD vs AWD/P one
That part was nice - the part where they were $300 more than Progressive was not. Now I have policies across two insurance companies.

My IDA was able to get my VIN a day after I had scheduled delivery (8/24) earlier this week. My Tesla page doesn't show the VIN yet and it's been a couple days. Used the VIN to get my insurance quote.
It's my 3rd vehicle on the policy so it was only an additional $700 on my existing $100K/$300K coverage with $200 deduct on both comprehensive & collision with "New Car Replacement" until the M3 hits 15,000 miles, then gap insurance kicks in, which is useless to me since it should already be paid off.

Ugh. Sorry. I have tried to beat GEICO's price multiple times over the years. Progressive has consistently been higher for me.

My insurance was quoted as just $88/mo for the model. Not bad it seems? That’s bundled with another vehicle and homeowners but still
Yea they told me the same nonsense, if you press your sales advisor they'll give you the VIN. Tell them you need to get insurance and that your financing wont release funds if you dont have an insurance binder. Basically they're holding up the deal by holding up the VIN.
