Dude why you giving up? Eventually you'll get your car & will regret canceling it when you see them on the road. If it makes you feel better, I placed my order on Oct. 1st & still no VIN. A week after I placed my order I hired an electrician to installed my 240v 50amp outlet for the nema 14-50. Just be patient.

Well I wouldn't say it is a question of "if" but "when"? And the new problem is if it is after 12/3/19 then any car costing over $60k will no longer get the California $2500 rebate. And those under $60k the rebate goes down to $2000.

Don't get discouraged! You'll probably hear something in 2 weeks or so which would be on par for a early Dec delivery. My SA just left my a voicemail today and claimed it will be early Dec for my order and I ordered 3 days after you!

Well, thanks for all the encouraging words - I appreciate that. If I hear in 2-3 weeks - then I will keep on with this. I guess that it is really annoying me that we are being strung along by Tesla. Two different people at Tesla hardly ever say the same thing. I was told by SA's and by the website for many weeks it would be 2, maybe 3, weeks. I think 7-8 weeks is enough time given the situation.

I think many people will admit that this Tesla waiting is really hard to stomach. To spend any amount of money in the tens of thousands - and be treated as poorly as we are - is getting very old very quickly. What I am feeling is the reason a LOT of people don't even consider Tesla.

Even this US Tesla shortage is artificial. Tesla chose to send many tens of thousands of cars overseas instead of looking to satisfy it's home base. They can survive while taking care of the US as well. Do you really think it was an oversight that they had their website say 2-3 weeks in most places until a few days ago? No.

I'll give it 2-3 weeks - until after Thanksgiving. Tesla does not need my business - and I'm sure there are a lot of people here that will tell me I am too "wimpy" for a Tesla. That is also very annoying! If I get too much of that - I'll run down the freeway and put my money down on a Porsche Taycan (not turbo) and wait with a smile! It's a ticket magnet for sure, but what the hell!

So until the end of the month I am here. Who knows, maybe I (and other's also) will hear some good news and hope they deliver early December. I hope this goes well for all of us. But like any self-respecting person, I am also placing limits on this.

Serious question, are you mainly upset that you were told 2-3 weeks and it is now taking longer? Yes, I agree it sucks and its frustrating, I am waiting for VIN assignment as well (ordered on 10/16). But honestly what is your rush? I imagine you're not hurting to have a car right NOW..either way, I am patiently waiting for my car because I know it's something I still want to enjoy ultimately.

The wait is real for me as well. P3D+ ordered 10/9. Hoping I can take delivery before end of year, preferably before Dec 3rd to get the most out of the tax incentives. But at the very least by end of year hopefully. I have my 14-50 NEMA adapter installed already as well. Just waiting for a VIN in source code/delivery date so I can plan for my car to get wrapped and tinted.

I think they're more upset about how Tesla handles these orders in batches for location rather than time of order. I believe they had a car ready for them in early October, but couldn't pick it up because of a family sickness, so Tesla sold it to someone who could take it that week. Then when they could take it, all production was/is going overseas, and when it comes time for US production, East Coast comes first and then makes it way across to here in the Bay Area. So he won't get his car until December, and being in the Bay Area, it'll probably be at the tail end. I would be super pissed also....which I kinda am.

I was emailing back and forth with my advisor from the end of Sept when I almost picked up a car to Oct 15th when I finally ordered the LR AWD. The entire time, my advisor never mentioned the wait would be 6-8 weeks, until I found out about it on the 16th from the update on the site. I asked him on the 16th what the deal was and he said, yes, we've been told all orders in Oct will be delayed for 6-8 weeks. My 2 weeks delivery was on my page until this past Monday.

Waiting 2-3 weeks and realizing that Tesla knew all along that it would be longer is a big part of it. I was told 2-3 weeks until this past weekend on my order page. I mean that is crappy to do to a customer. Tesla makes great cars but they way they treat customers (if customer is the right word ) really sucks. The whole process is ridiculous and it doesn't need to be this way. Tesla management consciously decides that this is the way the buying experience should be. Do you really think this is random and out of Tesla's hands?

I'm fortunate in that I could pretty much get anything I want. I chose Tesla and ruled out a Model S because it was too large for my tastes. The model 3 looked and drove reasonably, so I wanted one. But each lie, each component that gets deleted from the build, all of this - is not the way to be buying what should be a luxury car.

If someone had just told me that the wait (and other associated BS) would be long, etc. at the beginning - I would not be so annoyed. So I look at it and say to myself - OK ... just finish the expected wait, but put a termination point to it and call it a day.

It's really that simple. I'll keep on waiting for now. I can't be alone in feeling this way. When someone says things like I have just said, some "old-timer" pops in and say the inevitably stupid "well, you really don't have the stuff to own a Tesla." That just makes all this seem even more nuts.

I hope we all do well, but I don't think I am alone with my loss in confidence of Tesla to deliver a car intact and in a timely fashion. We may all wait and find a piece of junk at the end of the rainbow and need to have it fixed - or worse, be forced to turn it down. Then the wait starts all over again. Not that's crazy!

10/18, LR AWD white/white, no FSD, 18 inch aeros. No vin as of yet. Advisor says late November to early December.

San Jose

I'm in Model 3 order purgatory as follows:
1- Ordered LR/AWD blue/black 19-in sport wheels, no FSD, on 10/24/2019 - before clicking through to finalize order, delivery time said 'within 2 weeks'
2-After clicking through to finalize order, delivery time on submitted order now said '5-9 weeks'
3-I received an order agreement with order # and all correct details by email shortly thereafter, but zero other communication
or contact from Tesla, and no notice of any 'Advisor' or 'Delivery Specialist' as others have referred to
4-I tried to contact Tesla Support about delivery date discrepancy (though recognizing 5-9 weeks was now best case) and received no response for 10 days, despite '24-48 hours' response time promised (they are busy!)
5-Received no useful info or helpful response from Tesla Support (they just said 'contact your delivery specialist'- which I did not have) but I persisted with repeated queries - Eventually I was told 'Your order is not in the system' (after re-confirming correct order# and sending them a copy of the order agreement). Still nothing helpful from Tesla Support and was just cursorily instructed to contact my local sales delivery team.
6-I tried my best to contact my 2 local delivery centers, Corte Madera and San Francisco, but both only had a recording saying 'No representatives are available' followed by 'This phone mailbox is full. Goodbye.' Repeated efforts to circumvent this dead end failed.

Other than that, it has been a very smooth, easy and delightful ordering process :)

Giantshark: Did you actually get the name/contact info for an Advisor? If so, that must be very reassuring and helpful.

It's looking like I will just continue to enjoy my Roadster for quite awhile. All bets are off and it is impossible to confirm whether my Model 3 order for which I have an Order Agreement and order# is actually in the system or not. I am currently traveling for a few weeks and when I get home I will try to go to a delivery center and see if I can get the real scoop.

On the upside, the broken and totally overwhelmed Model 3 order system seems like a very good sign for Tesla's Q4 sales - must be far far exceeding what they have planned and allocated resources for. That should be good news for the patient TSLA bulls.

I remain a fan of these amazing cars and this world-changing company. I am taking it all in stride and keeping my sense of humor. I post the above only so that others might be aware that they are not alone in the Model 3 ordering matrix!
