I was wandering if anyone else noticed this:

To me it looks like center locking wheels, meaning one big screw holding the wheel in place. Like on a Porsche:

Are we going to have these wrenches in our garages? Would be sweet :)

Good catch! Lower parts count, less machining, fewer assembly steps, cheaper to produce?

Oh I hope not - center locking wheels are generally a pain in the butt. Quite a few folks on Rennlist go out of their way not to have them. I'm hoping this is just a pre-production/concept thing.

Good catch, though! I honestly didn't even notice.

The center locking wheels are probably only for the presentation.

Same with the carbon fiber rims of the very left model 3 on stage (you have to watch the unveil in HD) - probably just a vinyl wrap.

I gotta say, I'm not a fan of the wheels on the matte black or the red Model 3s from the reveal! I much prefer the turbine-style ones that were on the silver car. I would wager that it's not likely that any of those wheels are final, and there might be different ones available at launch time.
