Looks like Elon wasn't joking, they trademarked Model E recently.
Tesla owes me design consideration!! I believe that I was the first to suggest this name on this forum years ago!! :biggrin: I'm glad they agree!
Roadster: cool name for a sports car. First Tesla car gets cool name
Then Elon starts mass production cars and develops "Product Family" with "Branding":
Model S: First mass produced Tesla. "S" for Sedan
Model X: Second mass produced Tesla. "X" for cross-over (SUV/minivan)
Model E? What's the E for?
Elon doesn't strike me as the egocentric type to name a whole car line after himself (E-lon's car), and if he did, wouldn't it have been the first sports car, not the "affordable" everyperson's car..(That can't really be what E-stand for, could it? That would be kinda lame...)
Maybe Every Day Electric?
Everyone? Economy, Electric??
Should be Model M. Mid for mid-size
E = Everyone?
Yes but SMX does not sell :crying:
What if you have a Model S, X and E but not in that order?
Now I know why your signature says your posts are "copyrighted" and "may NOT" be reused without your written consent.
We've been here before.
Time to go namesquat "Model Y".
Disco...I would agree that "E" could represent Everyone.
Is it just me or is that Jaloponik source dated 8/30/2012?
The Jalopnik article was speculation from a year ago. The trademark application is new this week. Whether or not he was serious at the time, Elon had to have been considering the Model E name at least since last year.
E = easy, energy, endurance, electric ?
Why E= "Elon" of course:smile:
I like "everyone".
E for Eric, as in, I finally will be able to afford a whole car instead of a half a car.
