Model S Aircon issue in hot weather

Hi - can anyone help?
My 2014 Model S P85+ decided to stop aircon on our recent trip Copenhagen - Berlin, in 36 degree Celsius heat... Aargh.
Called Tesla en-route, and they didn't have a quick fix, other than reboot, which I tried 3 times.
Wonder if the car diverts all cooling to the batteries, when conditions are so hot.
It's back to working again, now I'm back in cooler climes..
Reminds me of 2001 a space odyssey... (Computer HAL decides...) if any of you are old enough to remember ;-)

I doubt it's supposed to work that way. I've driven in Vegas in 100+ Fahrenheit. Maybe you need to recharge your refrigerant.

No problems with the AC here in south Florida. Make a service appointment.

Agree, make an appointment. Mechanical stuff wears out and breaks. On my 2015 Model S, I have had one or two AC-related problems, remedied easily enough by the Tesla service people, neither of them major (no compressor failure, yet).

I don't know about the earlier Tesla MS, but since 2018 there is active cooling that uses the compressor and cools the coolant thru a chiller in that loop, which includes battery and drive units. I find the car prioritizes the battery over your comfort.

It would probably be best to have it looked at by Tesla Service. I recall my AC stopped responding on my old MCU1 when the computer would lock up. I also remember the cabin AC stopping when the HV battery %SOC is below 20. Hope it’s nothing major.

My 2020 MS had it last summer where the ac stopped functioning only the fans were working . Later on after remote diagnostic it was found to be a corrupt sensor and was replaced by tesla under warranty.
