I saw that too! Kind of a bold move by a professional athlete to publicly discuss stock trading, I thought. To many folks, stocks are something only the rich can afford to take chances on. Not saying I agree, but guys like him have to be careful to maintain their relatability when their $20M salaries are dependent (in theory) upon regular middle class fans buying tickets to the games.

I don't follow sports much, but my family does and pointed out this article to me. Max Scherzer (pitcher for the Washington Nationals) bought a Tesla.

Did you buy anything special after you signed your contract with the Nats?
Not necessarily. I don’t consider myself a huge materialistic person. I mean, I did get a nice new car. I got a new Tesla, and that thing is awesome. But other than that, the only time I really drop some money is on vacations.

The Nationals' Max Scherzer on pitching, politics and D.C. traffic - The Washington Post

Edited to add: sorry for the duplicate, somehow the forum didn't show me @jvonbokel's post from a couple days ago. I even did a search on "Scherzer" before posting - didn't come up with anything.

Worked with Shawn Green's daughter today and he was there as well. The embarrassing part is that I had no idea who he was, I know absolutely nothing about baseball. We chatted about our Model S a little and at some point, I asked him what business he was in. He said he was a pro player for many years. At that point I knew it was too late. I already made a fool of myself. I just googled his name. Now I feel really stupid.

Jamie Lee Curtis and her husband Christopher Guest got a Tesla.

This is awesome!

“I said to the guy, ‘The volume control goes to 11?’ He said, ‘Yes. (CEO Elon) Musk is a fan of a certain movie,’ ” she remembers. “So, Chris is sitting in the car and the guy doesn’t know it’s Chris.

Though I recognize the name, I wouldn't have known who Guest is either, but it's pretty amazing that their delivery specialist happened to demonstrate that specific feature.

Bill Maher mentioned on his show that he drives a Tesla. He also said he has an Audi for travelling but he plans on getting rid of it because of the VW scandal.

Typical actions of non hardcore Tesla enthusiast Tesla owner.

Buy Tesla. Keep ICEv for "long distance trips."

6 months-18 months later get rid of ICEv because you never use it.

I kept my Civic for long trips. Within two weeks, I sold the Civic. For almost 3 years now, the Model S has taken me 60,000 miles, much of it very long trips. The Model S is my only car.
