Model S "CPO" vs. Standard Model 3?

It is interesting, you would think two motors and a heavier car would not allow that. The reason being the EPA ratings assume Range Mode is employed. This allows the higher powered motor to "sleep" .

At the risk of sounding biased (I am a little) I think the 2015 MS, esp the 85D, is the best deal out there. Built after the initial problems, and before production hell.

Makes sense. Does range mode compromise handling, nimbleness? Non AWDs are cheaper, but I want more sportiness closer to M3, but with more size.

Yes please share the spreadsheet. TIA
Here it is. Please check the assumptions. For instance, I am retired. The cost of use of funds is small, 2% ,because I was able to justify using a portion of the cash in my portfolio to buy the car. If I was still working AND saving for retirement in a 401K with employer match, it would be 5-10x that amount. Reason why I have not bought a car in 17 years, and that is the families "new" car.

Having a problem uploading the file at the moment...

No, not in normmal driving, or in the the mountains or in the snow. However, I drive pretty conservatively. I just took it out of both range mode and chill mode for the FIRST time yesterday.

Fast became stupid fast, is the only difference. I can tell...

cannot upload a .xlxs or .xlx file for some

screen grab? sorry, cant do better at the moment...

Hatch versus boot and general space was the the reason we ditched our M3 reservation and went for a MS. But we are a family of 4 with only 1 car, so it has to do everything.

Collecting winter wheels for example.

Our Ludicrous 2015 MS P85D+ replaced BOTH our 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland SUV and our 2006 Corvette Z06 street legal track car... and fits not just one but TWO "big wheel" mountain bikes with all their wheels ON (front tires slipped in Mavic wheel bags to protect our seats):
  • XXL Santa Cruz Hightower CC 27.5+ "fattie" (2.8" wide tires)
  • M Santa Cruz Tallboy C 29" (2.3" tires)

FUSC is very tempting to me too. Is there a calculator to determine miles to savings to truly determine worth?

Tesla Supercharger Rate Calculator - Teslanomics

Based on 12,000 miles a year it would cost $844 to supercharge. FUSC would save you that $844, just enter your miles per year and see what the cost is. FUSC is worth whatever you cost would have been.

Was more interested in the spec of your SWEET RIDE! Veeeeery nice spec huh :cool::cool: Wow!

Hey there fellow Ashevillian ;)

I recently went through the same decision. I've had my P85D since it was new in 2015 (leased), and I had an M3 reservation. My lease was up last October and I chose to keep the P85D because of the nightmare QC/customer service issues Tesla has been having with the M3. Also, I absolutely still love my P85D and free supercharging for life is awesome (I've taken lots of really long road trips).

Side note, but it turns out that even if you already have the car, buying it out of the lease is also a customer service nightmare. Who knew!

I have - for the past three summers - driven my P85D from North Carolina to Colorado and back with my Specialized Demo 27.5 and my wife's Davinci Troy 27.5 on top. ;) There are a few long stretches where we had to be careful and charging definitely takes longer, but aside from that it's been great.

Nice!

What's your W/mile consumption with your MTBs racked?

How do you remove the bugs?

Have you ever been to the Blue Ridge EV Club meetings? Happy to send you an invite if not. We run the Drive Electric show at the outlets every fall, and do EV awareness stuff with the community.

Also, please do let me know if you ever have an inkling to move out of your P85D and would like to sell it to a local!

Please do send an invite! I think I know one of the members but I've never been to an event.

And I'll definitely let you know if I need to get rid of it. My wife and I are currently downsizing and thinking of making a move to bigger mountains, so it's kind of tempting. That free supercharging for life is pretty amazing though!

Thanks! We shopped nationwide for an "inventory" P85D with the exact spec & colors above since the day the P85D was announced. Our awesome sales guy was very patient but finally in frustration said we were dreaming... and the "mythological" P85D he named Pegasus ("a mythical winged divine stallion") was unrealistic as an "inventory" car but we persisted, searching daily. A couple of months later he called just before they closed on a Saturday and said he had found Pegasus in a Tesla Store showroom wiht only 2,905 miles on it just 10 miles away and was going on Tesla's inventory the following morning with an "inventory" discount. We got there when the store opened and transferred our ~ 3 year old $5,000 original deposit to it... and took delivery the next week.

Found out later it had the awesome Plus Suspension and had Tesla upgrade it to Ludicrous, so now it is a "unicorn" P85D+ especially with the rare super sporty NextGen "Recaro" Seats front and rear PLUS staggered Arachnid wheels and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

Absolutely
LOVE it. :D

I forget but it's A LOT. I'm thinking driving across Kansas we were steady between 500 and 600. Coming back I remember catching a tail wind which was nice.

For bugs, I pretty much just wipe it down with a wash cloth. Trestle Bike Park tends to add some dents and dings to my bike anyway, so I've never been one to worry too much. ;)
