Model S crash worthiness
Very good news!
In a recent interview conducted by "Engel" of this forum, it was stated by Mr. Blankenship that Tesla Motors have sent several Model S crash versions for testing. He even confirmed that there was a freeze in the design to solidify crash testing. Hopefully we see some results real soon and that 5 star rating that's so important to Mr. Musk.
Has there been any news on the crash testing front???? How many were crashed? When will we see new video of those tests?
I really need to see a rear-impact crash test before I order the extra rear-facing kids seats...
That would be an interesting video to see...
I've read that we should he something about crash test rating next month and if so I hope videos will soon follow.
My wife is not too fond of the idea, and even I need some obective demonstration that this is a safe place to be in case of a rear-ending.
In my case (4 young kids) this will be the difference between S and X.
The results of the front crash test look awesome to my untrained eye. I am concerned about rear-end testing, but without kids (no kids at home, at least), it's not nearly as important to me.
I think there were reports mentioned here (or by Tesla) saying that those are statistically very safe places to be, in an accident.
The NHTSA said that I believe as well but can't find the link.
