Model S December Production email

Needless to say, the more of us responding yes, the less likely this will materialize. Given where they are at in production and today's date, it seems very unlikely the majority of us who have been contacted will actually see a car this month.

Having said that, I already sold my daily driver and my finances are all set, so put me at the head of the line! :)

Whoops, P.S. I'm P#8061 and signed the MVPA on November 14th, expected delivery Feb-March. Now let's see how these things change in the coming dayz!

Yes, but we can dream! :-D

^This. So much this. Five pages of replies, and no one has said "No" yet. This has been an emotional roller coaster, to say the least! My confidence level of rocketing up the delivery window has gotten pretty grim. A co-worker of mine, who actually might be more excited about this car than I, even bet me a dollar I'd have the car in the drive by 1/1/13. I told him if that happened, he could even have the first drive!

He's heading to Fremont to apply for a job...

I'm a little shocked to get the mail, to be honest. Hm. This would change all my tax thoughts. I wasn't expecting anything until March(!).

The one day I leave my phone in my work pants after getting home from work. I just read the email, got it at 7:01 ET. Trying to convince the wifey that Dec is the way to go. It does make ad-velorum tax a little more difficult in GA. I really wanted my car mid March, but if I get it in Dec I get all my rebates in March 2012 which would be awesome.

I think I am just going to press the get it now button and work on the wife later!

Like the saying goes, it is easier to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission.

Just in case anyone is in the same position as me...

I've been farting around trying to decide on colors (leather and paint) since I got the finalize email just before Thanksgiving. When I saw this thread, I emailed my DS (Walter) asking that if I finalized on an 85 with air, would I get the email? He answered within about 5 minutes (as usual!), saying that boat had probably sailed, so I'm likely looking at February(ish).

I'm not actually too sad, it would have been a lot to get organized and I'm out of town for a few days, but it's still great to here they're obviously pushing things along at some speed.

Congrats to all of those now likely to get their cars this side of Christmas, that's the bestest present ever!

I've been thinking about who might be getting this email and I think that the configuration is only part of the requirement (i.e. you've gotta be an 85kWh w/air suspension). I'm also wondering if you need to live in an area where Tesla will have an available delivery specialist sometime this month. Think about it, it makes sense for them to see where they have delivery slots available and make those cars first. Or, put another way, it makes less sense to build a car with a lower number that they know will have to sit at the factory or at a service center for several weeks while they wait for a delivery specialist to become available. Tesla needs to deliver as many cars this year, not only to make as much money as possible, but also to have the positive PR.

Anywho, I'm just speculating (because "speculating" sounds better than "pulling stuff out of my ass").

Not sure about the delivery specialist speculation. I got the email and i'm in Hawaii. They don't have the service center open yet. (don't even know where they will put it.) and delivery here is more complex because the car has to be shipped by boat.
