My Model S will be here in 10 hours....I think I slept two hours last night....Pictures will be posted at some point...trying for sooner than later but it has been a long wait and need to break the car in....(also need to get my electric usage up so I can get my solar array approved to cover the new Teslas)

cattledog,
Congrats!!!! Sorry you were not there but YOU HAVE YOUR CAR.

It's ok. I was there to help with the delivery and drive it in the garage (got permission) Had my Tesla jacket on so got to play delivery specialist since they are illegal in Texas now. Was fun but sorry to Cattledog couldn't be there for delivery. Without a delivery specialist it's really not much of a delivery experience other than a truck driver (who was very nice and professional) dropping the truck off. Still, I'm sure everyone would rather be there than not be there for that. It's a great looking car and is sitting in the garage fully charged.

I also spoke with the driver about the whole delivery process and why Tesla can't find out where the cars are easily. He said his trucking company knows where he is at all times but even then, if you ask the trucking company where he is you'll get 5 different answers from 5 different people there. The only way to truly know where the truck is and where it is going is to talk with the driver but his company doesn't like to give out his mobile number. That's part of the problem. A company he used to drive for would give a like to a webpage where the customer could track the truck via GPS which would be great. Maybe Tesla needs to write it into their shipping contract that location information is made available to Tesla HQ each day (where the truck currently is and the planned route for the next day).

It also sounds like Tesla dumped a ton of cars on the various shipping companies at once. He said they re-reouted him to Arizona to pick up a bunch of cars after they had been shuffling cars to various distribution hubs around the country.

dang i'm almost as impressed with the houses behind some of these Model S photos as i am with the car. some of you guys live bloody LARGE.

If you can afford $100K for a car - you probably aren't doing too bad - financially. Also, read through the "What do you do for a living" thread - a lot of professionals. Education, skills, and alot of hard work generally pays off. Too bad many people in today's society refuse to believe that is what it generally takes to be financially successful (sorry, couldn't avoid the soapbox).

I am one of the rare ones that do NOT live large generally, but allowing me to live large with respect to the 'S'.

A good indicator is what car(s) the S replaces: if its a 535 or an A8, you get the idea. Mine is a 99 VW Passat. <grin>

Congrats! I'm glad 60 kWh is finally moving forward and it seems like Tesla is building them more or less in sequence order now. That's good.

It also depends on where you live. A giant house in NJ (where I'm from) is very different than a large house here in the bay area :)

You said it.

Location, location, location.

In my area, an ancient outhouse with overgrown weeds and nothing more on a 1/3 of an acre would probably run about 2 million dollars these days just for the land. It's awful.

When I used to live in Phoenix, AZ that could have bought a palace at the time of the market downturn. Same back east in the Pittsburgh burbs. It amazes me how certain areas become so valuable while others not so much.

Cheers.
