Ugh. I hope Tesla fixes this before my car arrives. I much rather pick up from Rockville then DC. Not because of the location, but because DC has very little storage space, most of it is it in a shared underground parking garage.

When I picked up my car (before they stopped this), I was told they weren't going to get a Maryland license. Maryland's not a psycho-state, so I wonder if this is because they don't have a store in Maryland. Maybe if they ever open a store in Maryland (e.g., in Baltimore), they'll get a dealer license....

I hope that they improve the Media Player software - it does not recognize my iPod over USB. I need to connect iPod using Bluetooth which screws up the connectivity to the iPhone.

This I do not understand. If you have an iPhone, what do you need an iPod for ? The iPod Touch is essentially an iPhone without the cellular hardware. Why not put all your music on the iPhone instead ?

Well, it is all done but the shouting. I just received my final MPVA last night and the signed one this morning. A quick FAX to PenFed followed up with a phone call and my check will go out this afternoon for Monday delivery. I am scheduled to pick the car up at the Factory on Thursday of next week. It just finished it final Exams with a passing grade and is now waiting for me to come up. I, like many of you, am not totally happy with some of the "choices" or ground rules involved with the car (warranty issues, cost of maintenance package, 3G plans, etc) but no car is perfect in every way. I am concerned about cracking windshields, abnormally worn leather by the doors, lack of storage pockets and a generally subpar (for this price range) interior quality/design in general. But, no car is perfect and I am prepared to live with what I don't like in order to get what I do like which is the coolest driving experience on earth. All of my vehicles have had hits and misses for my tastes and that is just how life goes. I have certainly never spent this money on a car or been involved with a start up. That scares the devil out of me but I really want to get in on the ground floor of what is a revolutionary automobile. Caution to the wind - I've done it!

My overall experience with Tesla and the entire process has been very good. I found it necessary to phone home on a regular basis as the automated notices did not particularly work for me. I'm sure if I had done nothing, things would have happened normally, but I am confident that I have sped up my ultimate delivery by being proactive. A day here, a day there would all add up eventually. To those of you patiently waiting, I would suggest that you check in by phone once in a while and to keep an eye on your phone app for a VIN. The Tesla staff is swamped and although things will happen automatically, you can get lucky and move things along slightly with a well timed phone call.

I just placed my reservation for the Calif rebate. You need a MVPA date to apply. It takes 3-5 days for approval and then your funds are reserved. You now have 14 days (for postmark) to mail Registration, proof of residence and a few other things. By jumping the gun slightly, I saved a week or more. The pool is down to $1.4m and falling fast. It looks like there might be a couple more weeks of funds available. The State money will come immediately but the Fed money will be next year at tax time. Oh well, even though I have to wait, $10k is a very nice lump of cash.

Edit:

I just got the Calif rebate form back. It took less than a day and my funds are now reserved. I have to wait for my registration to finish, but there will be enough time to meet the 14 day deadline.

I have had my S for a week and just love it. Looks great, drives great, and no issues. I had the windows tinted today which only magnifies how great looking this car is. I have no reservations about the purchase and look forward to years of fun. What a car!!

Did you have any issue with the windows going down a bit when you open the doors and the window tinting?

How do you place a reservation? Online, phone, etc...

Not yet as they were literally tinted an hour ago. The tint guy does all the tinting for the local Lexus dealership out here and he actually told me that I don't have to worry about that. He said I can immediately use the windows without worrying about that. Not sure why as my wife's car was recently tinted by someone else who said not to use them for a few days. But I have a lifetime warranty so if something happens I assume he will fix them.

You don't need to wait for the registration to finish as you can use the application for registration that Tesla completed and you signed at pick up. If you don't have a copy email your delivery specialist - which is what I had to do.
