I picked up at Marina del Rey. Everyone was super nice.

One note: the lady working the front was obviously trained to deny certain customer complaints. When I told her about panel gaps, she immediately said "they are within Tesla specifications." The only problem with that statement: she didn't yet look at the gaps! Again, for me, they are really not bad. It was just a funny observation.

I’m starting some projects on the car today. The following is a list of mods:

  • Install my Escort 9500. This is the most time-consuming project I have, as I have to remove the entire frunk to gain access. This car is definitely a bit different than my priors, so it will take me a bit to figure this out.
  • Add extra lighting to the trunk. I did this with my prior three MSs as well, by adding 18 inch long LED strips under the lips that support the parcel shelf, and tapping into the existing (weak) trunk lights. Unfortunately, these are now lined with alcantara, and my strips will not stick. I'll figure out something.
Unlike the footwell lighting, this trunk lighting upgrade is incredibly useful.
  • I have a Blackvue dashcam left over from pre-sentry days. I may or may not install that. I haven't decided. The benefit is that it gives beautiful video and does not run down the battery.
  • Install a lighted-T up front. You cannot buy those anymore, so I am working to build one myself. I had this on my last few S's as well, but my last one that would fit this MS burnt out.
  • Buying a second set of 21" wheels from Signature. Keeping my 19's for long road trips and trips to Mammoth.
I have a similar install project when I get mine.. I am adding an ALPriority System which needs to feed wires through the "firewall". So I would be curious to hear if you found a good access point to get from the Frunk area into the cabin.

Home delivery appointment confirmed for Tuesday Dec 7 @ 2PM. I was not aware they are doing home deliveries in Houston. Hopefully they show up on time because I want to inspect it before it’s dark. They’ll be taking my Model 3 LR as a trade-in. 10 more sleeps! It’s hard to believe I’ll receive the car 10 months and 3 days after ordering it…

Hopefully ill get mine soon. I wont allow friends in my car until a bit after. I dont want them to ruin my model s when they go in it. My family will be fine. But friends? Nope. A friend of mine spilled ice cream in my car. He’s 23 and I literally kept my cool trying to not fight him half way to our destination.

There's no eating in my car. Period. My wife's, that's another matter. The Tesla interiors are pretty stain adverse. She spilt Indian spice all over her white seats. Yes, that yellow stuff that makes a mess. A little bit of baking soda and wipes....no signs of it ever happening.

Kept your cool. Ice cream. Nice.

Not sure if much has changed, but in my 2017 S, there was a large rubber grommet under the hood over by the passenger side that fed wires from within the frunk to just about the lower portion of the underside of the glovebox area. I used that existing hole/grommet to feed wiring for my Amp/Subwoofer install.

DCU only approved me for 75K for some reason.
Even if your credit score is over 800, if your Credit report shows that you’ve been actively using a fair amount of consumer credit? DCU will limit the total amount that they will loan you. You can try arguing your case with them and uploading/submitting some statements that show high financial worth. They may increase the amount of the loan

Having my PPF shop do ALP install next week. I can ask for wire routing if helpful. DM me

I stopped by the Westmont, IL showroom this morning and FINALLY got to see a refresh in person. WOW they are gorgeous, they had a few older S's parked right across from them and it was shocking how much better the refresh looks. The salesman was awesome and chatted with me for awhile and even opened one up and let me take a peak. Im even more psyched to get mine now. Center screen is MASSIVE. They had 5 refreshes there (one of each color) and I could not find a single issue with any of them. Most still had some type of protective film on various parts but nothing wrong as far as a I could tell. Paint was gorgeous, panels gaps as good as anything I've seen. Trim was aligned. I didn't look for the worm but I'm not sure we've even decided if thats a flaw or not. 2 cars had 19" rims, both of those had the all season tires for anyone curious.

I mistyped above. It should state "if your credit report shows that you have NOT been actively using a fair amount of consumer credit". They offered me a lower amount because I only had mortage and credit card that I pay off each month on my report. They specifically called out the fact that I have not had a car loan in many years (over 15), as a negative factor/why they wouldnt offer me full loan amount I requested.

I picked up the Model Y today. The MY looked pretty good overall. Perhaps the frunk and hatch could be aligned a bit better, but not too bad. I had (have) a couple noob questions/issues, but I’ll ask in the MY forum. I had some delivery issues, but I had time to inspect the car fairly well. It didn’t take long for the cameras to calibrate, so I used the autopilot on the highway on my trip home.

I’ll post more on my semi-humorous delivery hiccups tomorrow. I’m a bit tired, but happy to be a Tesla owner.

@Ormond Tell us more! Like you, I purchased a MYP and a Plaid. My MYP is perfect, no pickups! MY bastard Plaid remains in the SC "ICU" for over a week now.

I will simply say that the cap can be much higher if you ask for a “senior management review”
