Wiki Model S Delivery Update

From these boards we have learned that most (all?) of the cars to the entire SouthEast go to Birmingham, AL. That is from VA to FL and points west and in between. That is a lot of cars and millions of dollars of capital that are tied up there for prolonged periods of time and that suggests significant logistical problems.

I think that is why they said the model 3 roll out will be from west to east as well. They have a terrible logistics system in place.

Brunton, I think you need to start calling Fremont and create some noise! Or ask for a different DS. There is a toll-free number on the Tesla website. I am sure that this would trigger a call from Fremont to your SC to find out why you are not getting updates, or your car for that matter. My DS said he was able to "influence" the schedule somewaht... whatever that meant. But the DS not knowing is inexcusable.
I'm actually very happy with my DS. He updates me whenever I call, and he pings the car to make sure I get the latest location info while I'm on the phone with him. We often wind up chatting for 20-30 minutes. The problem is that the Delivery Center is hostage to the shipping issues as well as the customers. He also told me he can influence priorities for shipping somewhat, but everything has been for naught to this point.

I did call Freemont, and they transferred me right back to the DC. According to the DS that answered the phone when I was transferred (not my regular guy), Decatur GA has not received anything from Birmingham since last week. Apparently there are 200 Model S's sitting in Birmingham waiting for transshipping to their destinations - over $20 MILLION dollars in inventory. Why some are not getting out in a timely manner no one seems to know.

Delivery of my 90D was scheduled today at 11:00 am in Decatur Georgia, however I received a call from the assigned DS at 3:00 pm yesterday, informing me the 90D is still in Birmingham, and will not be available until earliest Saturday or Monday. Frankly the communication from the DS is horrendous, I initiated every communication (except the phone call yesterday). Granted there are a number of cars in B'ham waiting for truck transport, however as a TESLA customer I expected the DS to be on top of the situation and not wait unit the afternoon before delivery to provide the update. It is amazing how mismanaged and perhaps uncaring TESLA's 'post sales' departments really are

After reading many comments for people getting their S delivered to Florida I think it's a matter of timing and location.

Tesla Q1 is almost finished so they were pushing as many deliveries as possible to meet guidance of 16,000 deliveries. At this point, it appears that they have met guidance of 16,000 deliveries, which is probably why they are stashing cars at the rail. They are probably trying to push deliveries into Q2 because they are expected to deliver more than 20,000 to meet FY2016 guidance for 80,000 to 90,000 deliveries.

The Model S tracker has many Model S outside the US being ordered with delivery well into Q2.

It does seem unusual for Tesla to keep vehicles in one area for a long time.

What do you guys think?

Got 133101 yesterday in Portland, OR. Pearl white 90D (delivery specialist said was their # 1 selling car). Just blown away by this vehicle. AP is a game changer. Got pano and premium, tan seats, matt wood...just < $100K before $7,500 rebate.

One thing I learned is GET the car even if you can't afford all of the option. Go with less. Heck, don't really even need pano. You don't need fancy wheels. You will forget about them once driving. Just get into one of these!

Delivery specialist said his ideal config is $77K. That's a big difference from $140K or even $100K. The existing stereo is great (of course there are always better sound systems). Ride without SAS was wonderful. Hard to forgo premium, but would rather not have that than not have the car. etc!

Just hope it all doesn't become obsolete in 6 months........

My car has finally escaped the Black Hole of Birmingham and arrived in Decatur. I pick it up tomorrow at noon.

I got a call today from my DS. Picking mine up on Wednesday. Pretty happy with the rapid turnaround.

Ordered 2/27
Confirmed and VIN issued 3/5
In production 3/13
Delivery 3/23

Picked mine up yesterday from the San Diego SC. Mike and the team do an excellent job prepping the car and making the delivery experience something special. Got a nice swag bag or Tesla goodies as well. My daughter didn't make the test drive so got quite a shock when I hit the throttle. Tesla grin soon followed.

Picked up on 3/23 in Tampa. The only thing I can say is Amazing! Used autopilot for almost the entire 2 hour drive home. The delivery team was great. The had at least 20 Model S's inside in various stages or getting ready for delivery, and 3 or 4 Model X's.

I placed an order with leasing option, getting delivery in 2 weeks. I drive a lot and wondering any penalties besides 25 cents per mile for putting extra miles ?
Thanks in advance!!
Two weeks from date of order or date of confirmation?

I've also ordered and am leasing. As far as I can tell it's only the $0.25 / mi charge so I'm going for the 10,000/yr and will pay later. Doesn't pass the break even on the per mile versus 12K/yr until about 34,000 miles total.
