Hmm - I just checked mine -- and it showing - December - Early Jan 2017!!! NOT COOL... i was suppose to get it in Late October, then the DS said, due to production line improvements - it got delayed -- now this is just crazy!

I dont even have a car right now - as i traded mine in - and currently renting a car!

Either there is a plant shutdown coming (issue with vendor or some other nonsense) or there is a need to produce a lot of inventory cars for some reason. Why would you and others be getting pushed back drastically when in Q3, they were building a lot of those MS 75 inventory cars with $7500 discounts and still got people their cars by 9/30? Not conspiracy - just questioning logistics. And if Monday's announcement involves something along the lines of "dealerships" or other partnerships for selling - then it may mean that inventory must be made to fill those lots even if it is ahead of named, custom orders. Another thing about the sale in September was the issue of the emails from Musk - building the inventory cars, posting them online and the $7500 all were done without his knowledge - makes me question what they really have going on behind closed doors.

Also, don't forget the Must proclamation that "do not discount unused cars" (ie. Tesla cannot discount a factory-fresh car.) Doesn't mean a dealership or partner cannot do a discount. Unless price-fixing such as Apple or other type of "restricted from sales prices" system is in place, I can see wholesale order pricing being done to distributors and dealerships (such as getting cars onto lots in Michigan and Virginia or wherever else Tesla is not selling directly).

This all could be the culmination of this: Musk: Tesla May Eventually Use Car Dealers But Not Ones Who Have Been “Jerks”

So... lots of posts around cars getting delayed, but is this the norm? or is it mostly that the ones who are posting are the ones with delayed delivery dates?

Also, is there a point where, for the most part, baring uncommon issues, the dates are pretty fixed? (like, once the car is actually being built? so, once a date shows up that is < a month away (or whatever) it is likely to be pretty firm?

Is there a decent (more detailed) overview of the process from the experiences of the people on the list??? the one Tesla posts is pretty much "we are trying hard, we'll let you know when it's ready"... but something that listed the various states that the "my Tesla" page goes through, likely delaying factors in each state, how much each one changes, etc...

P100D order confirmed this evening

Late October - Early November estimate
I ordered around the same time you did I also ordered the p100d on Sept 17th and got an email on the 10th saying my car was being shipped. I had a delivery window of Oct 3rd through the 10th but today it the 16th so who knows what's going on. Should be here this week or next. Really rooting for this week though!

I would definitely give them a call. Lots of people getting bumped back ~ 1 month.

Here's the email I just sent to [email protected].

On September 20th my wife and I placed an order for an inventory Model S in New York. Living in Montana we expected it would take some time to get our Model S delivered to us but the experience has been below even our modest expectations.

Our car was originally in New York but was transfer to New Jersey to prep for delivery. Our delivery specialist did a good job, calling us several times to get us the information we needed. At that time we let him know that we were going to be leaving on a road trip on October 19th and we very much hoped to be able to do it in our new Tesla. This was in early October and the car was nearly ready to ship. We hurried to secure financing and insurance so the car could be shipped ASAP and our loan with Alliant funded on October 8th, 10 days before our trip.

Once the loan funded we assumed the car would ship ASAP, but instead we heard almost nothing from Tesla. On the 10th our delivery specialist told us he would request an update on the shipping status of our car. After that email we received no further communication. On the 14th we called Tesla and found out that our delivery specialist was out of the office for an extended time, something which was also never communicated to us. Another representative assisted us, and promised a follow-up on the shipping status of our car on the 15th or 17th at the latest. Needless to say that follow-up never happened. When we called again today we were informed first that the car was ready for us to pick up in New Jersey (!), and then that the car was still sitting in Jersey and that we would get a follow-up on what was going on. I guess we'll see if that actually happens this time.

may have something to do with product announcement tomorrow

Assuming you are talking about Dynastar's challenges, I sincerely hope not. Since he (or she<grin>) is getting an inventory car, there should not be any problems due to manufacturing or new products coming down the line. this looks like either a mis-communication problem (someone thought they were picking it up in NJ instead of Montana) or someone dropped the ball in keeping it moving down the chain. The only things that I could see in tomorrow's announcement that could cause this would be them closing major numbers of facilities or something like that (none of which fits the initial tease). It's possible that it could be things like Tesla announcing they are moving to all Tesla built semi's for moving cars, or something else cool like that, though I doubt it.

Are you taking delivery in Montana or NJ? If Montana, they surely have messed up logistics going on there and AWOL DS not handing off to another...

Taking delivery in Montana. After I sent that email I finally got an update on the car, surprise surprise. I was told it's in the hands of Tesla logistics and they except to have it to me "towards the latter part of the month". I was promised a firm ETA as soon as they had one. At least the interest rate on my loan is nice and low while my car sits in Jersey...
