Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Wife told me we should order a Tesla for her this morning. After I got my jaw off the floor. I ordered today. The confirmation button is not on my Tesla page. It automatically confirms on January 19th. Tentative delivery Late March. Had an interesting discussion "off the record" with someone that works for Tesla. He stated at the beginning of the quarter they ship outside of North America and at the end of the quarter inside North America. This would explain the 6 weeks for my Model X and 8 weeks for my Model S.
My wife made her decision today because of the VW & Fiat Scandel, riding in the Model X, and profiting on investments. The Model X is an amazing car. I thought she would have waited for the Model 3 or Y.

Confirmed a S90D 11/27 and just entered production yesterday! Spoke to DS and said we are tracking a late January delivery to Cincinnati. I was worried I would have to wait longer with focus on intl deliveries early in the quarter. I would guess that the longer wait time is due to increased demand before the free supercharging bell rings on Jan 15th. My kids can't wait to sit in those jump seats!

My UK November Model S 90D order was :
Early March
Then on the 5th Jan changed to April/Early May
Now on the 14th Jan its changed to late May/Early June

So production is slipping a month every 10 days currently... Really strange when you see some of the US orders from December seemingly going from order to delivery in a couple of months.

I understand there is shipping to add to the delivery time, however I'm wondering whether either supply of some opotions (supply chain issues) or batching of right hand drive builds are a factor.

Not really a complaint, I'm clearly disappointed to be loosing the Spring as I had planned for a Road Trip to Scotland, but just interested in the Tesla business and what effects this poor customer experience, when they seem so deterimined in so many other ways to make it great.

Not one call/e-mail from my DS and ignores my e-mails.

Wow. Sorry to hear @Stig.That's bad customer service. Maybe it will get rearranged for the positive (which I hear happens as well) in the coming weeks. Might indeed be a part that they are unsure of. It may be some "autoupdate" algorithm that the site uses. Mine has stated the same for a month now and ordered in early November-but it once it did say "Feb/March" then got moved up to "January/Early Feb".

Picking my car up on the 25th. DS called me 12th and said the car was ready even though the web site still said (and as of today) says in production. Figures it became ready when I had to be away on business for 2 weeks. Oh well, had to finish cleaning my garage anyway.

Anyone know if they have fixed the door handle microswitch problems in new production vehicles?

Hi guys, just wondering if you know why it's taking so long (or feels like it's taking forever) from order confirmation to VIN assignment.
I ordered MS 60 on 1/9/17, confirmed 1/16/17 (CA, San Jose), estimated delivery end of march or early april..
I was looking through the google sheet, most people typically got their VIN within a day or two only (Oct/Nov/Dec 2016 tab)..
The wait is driving me crazy..

My car is en route to Cincinnati and should be there next week! Confirmed order 11/27, got vin immediately, entered production 1/10.

90D, Midnight Silver, jump seats, all glass roof, subzero, Premium interior, enhanced autopilot

Looks like the original estimate of Late Dec/January might come to fruition after all!

I also got my VIN much later than others on the spreadsheet, and yea the wait was really unbearable!

We ordered our MS 60D in late December (CA, Sunnyvale), estimated delivery March - Early April. I got my VIN 9 days after oder confirmation. My in-law ordered his P100D on the same day, but got his VIN 3-4 days earlier than us.

To be honest, I don't think there's anything you can do to expedite the VIN assignment. I emailed our delivery specialist, but he simply told us to check MyTesla. I checked MyTesla > 3 times a day compulsively to the point that I wonder if I was abnormal.

How did I get through the "long" wait? Check this forum >3 times a day, watch Tesla videos on Youtube, read Teslarati, read the Tesla sub-reddit...

Now I've finally received the VIN, and the real long wait for production begins. But I'm running out of Tesla things online to keep myself preoccupied!!
