But, this statement is just wrong. The best MPG of a large hybrid, like the MB or other similar heavy luxury sedan, is under 20MPG. Maybe if you are comparing this to a Prius plug-in but this is no Prius. I currently average 20MPG with a MB 550 engine using premium gas .Based upon my average 25,000 miles per year, using premium gas, I have estimated I will spend $850 on electricity for the year rather than approximately $7,000 in gasoline. I think this equates to far more than 50 MPG - more like 90-100.

The calculation for my estimate:

My COE is roughly 17 cents per KwH avg. (I am on a tiered option, since I am home most of the time and don't opt for the TOU option). This translates to $15.30 for fully charging a S90D (90KwH). This will buy about 5 gallons of gas, and assuming a generous 300 miles on a full charge, that's about 60 MPG. Taking into account a more realistic mileage range, fixed electric charges and other not so insignificant adjustments charges on the electric bill, will reduce that MPG number significantly. Opting for the TOU metering won't change the numbers much.

We placed our 60D order on 12/30 for March - Early April delivery. The delivery specialist just emailed us today saying that our car will most likely enter production next week. Looks like they're finally getting to the West Coast lower-end models! Hooray!!!

I ordered my car in mid-January and my DS told me that I should expect delivery in a couple weeks. I ordered a 60 on the West Coast as well and was slated for a March - Early April delivery as well.

Well, this is all good news for you fellas whose cars went into production. Congrats!

It's a bit curious though that I ordered earlier, 12/25, and 'My Tesla' still says 'scheduled for production'. Wonder what's going on??

I wouldn't read too much into it. Some people never get the e-mail confirming production, some people find that they will start and stop production in the same day. I'm not convinced that the e-mails or status updates on My Tesla are perfectly aligned with what's going on at Fremont.

Another west coast order

I second this. DS told me the same thing. Ordered 1/9, confirmed 1/16, Vin 1/25.. Hopefully goes into production next week and delivery by Mid-March.. About to start the financing application..

West coaster here. I also have complained about a lack of communication - albeit the automatic computerized kind. Purchased 1/15 to get supercharger and a $1,000 referral discount (which I thought was ending only for another program to immediately start). Confirmed 1/22. No VIN number through today but promised end of March. My Tesla page has only the reservation number and the "Scheduled for Production" line. I did email my DS two weeks ago and they promptly responded that all was in order. Yesterday as I was leaving work (around 5:00) got an email from the DS that my car would be delivered by the end of the month, that I should log onto financing and arrange that, and he requested info on my trade (which I had decided I would not trade due to their low offer). This was very welcome news. I responded that as soon as I have something telling me the car is less than 30 days out, like a VIN number and that it has entered production, I would get the financing in place. The criticism is all about their computer model as every time I have reached out to the DS or the sales staff I have gotten a timely response.

I note that my order, a MS75 (not a D), was one of the only RWD cars on the order page and I wonder if that has hampered my scheduling.

Please tell us if your DS or the computer responded in anyway regarding your need for confirmation, not unreasonable requests at all when you’re about to apply for something as time sensitive as financing. I find it particularly curious that you’ve received no VIN.

I ordered a model similar to yours, an S75D in early-February. I received order confirmation and a VIN exactly a week later. My vehicle too has been in stasis, remaining in, “Scheduled For Production” since order confirmation on February the 17th.

You're not the only RWD, i ordered my MS60 on 1/9, confirmed 1/16 and got VIN 10 days after. Delivery also March-Early April.
My DS also recently got back to me to start financing application. On scheduled for mid-March delivery @Fremont Factory.

Tick-tock..

My DS responded to tell me he is certain I will have the car by the end of the month and to do the financing ASAP.
