Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Randomly got an email from my OA about connecting me to Tesla Energy (upsell). With good information from my brothers and sisters here on TMC, I responded “I just want my car!” He then reached out to my DS for a “soft delivery date”, whatever that means? So, I now have March 17th at the new Fremont Delivery Center. Fingers crossed that turns into a “hard” delivery date. No change to my Tesla Account.

<raises hand> I ordered right after you, on 12/29, confirmed on 1/1. My DS has been polite, but extremely passive. I was very chill and zen about it for a while, but I had timed everything for the nominal 6 week wait that I had observed here on TMC. So now my lease has expired - I'm paying for a rental car - and still have no delivery date. Last time we spoke she said "you may go into production around the 12th or 17th"
I specifically ordered when I did to avoid an EoQ delivery. This weekend was the first time that cancelling the order crossed my mind. As I write this, I think what I'll do is express my displeasure to DS-OA-corporate (in that order) and see what happens. I just want the car!

Thanks for the update. Like you I was chill through Jan & Feb but, now that it is March, the last-day of March delivery (maybe) was a disappointing surprise. Again, thanks for letting me know I’m not alone winning the FILO booby prize (First-In-Last-Out).

I completely sympathize with the both of you guys.

Infact i have a feeling my car wont be delivered until end of march as well, seeing how the other guy who is located in bel air, which will most likely be picking up his car at the same station i will, has a end of march delivery.

All i know is if im going to have to wait this long my car better be immaculate.
That means no paint blemishes, no ripped upholstery.
The car better be so clean, and shine so bright it will put mr clean's bald head to shame.

If its not, im seriously going be upset, because not only did we get shafted to the end for production, our cars was most likely rushed to meet deadlines and completely ignored the QoA inspection.

I don't think i can take receipt of a $154k car if i was told they need to replace something in it or it was damaged.
They would need to replace it imediately like a new one better go into production the day after, or i would cancel the purchase of the car on lui of the fact that the car was not delivered undamaged and new.

Because if they need to fix something its not called new, its called REFURBISHED.
Im sure that applies even to Cars.
I was secretly hoping to hit the interior refresh - the only way to justify the delay.

PS. I’m only 28 miles from Fremont.

Not that it upsets me, but their scheduling/logistics are puzzling to me.
You ordered before me, and some others in here, we both live in the Bay Area, but we're getting our cars after people form out of state who ordered after us.

Maybe there's some perfectly sound logic to all of this, but i'll be damned if i can figure it out :)

Nah. It might actually be done, but as far as I can tell, your Delivery Specialist has to change the status for the website to show a change. Mine took 5-6 days in production and was quickly shipped out. When my DS called to tell me it was done in production and shipping, an hour later the website status changed.

Gotcha! On Monday I emailed my DA for a separate question and she said it was still in production. Hopefully it finished yesterday.

My DS & I came across those during the walk through while I was taking the delivery of the car. They gave me an option to not take delivery and they fix it before they gave it to me or get it fixed via service. Since I was there already, I took the delivery and am now just getting around to taking it for Service later this week.

Oh man that's great to here that it was delivered that way. I mean it really sucks that you have the damage but better that it's on them and not you.

The soft date is the date Tesla shows in the schedule to be the first possible date you could have the car if everything and everybody and every logistical component falls in place. Best case scenario. My DA quoted me the 19th best case yesterday. He quickly told me don't count on it. He was more optimistic the 20th was possible.

Curious about a possible scenario since I am currently debating on whether or not to pay in full before delivery. Say you notice lots of issues at delivery and the car is fully paid for, what happens if you have trim, scratches, and other issues to the point you don't accept the car? If it's already paid for can you refuse the car at delivery and ask for a refund? Or will you be offered a new vehicle? Sorry if this question is poorly worded, haven't had my coffee yet :confused:. Thanks!

Funny. My gut-check date that I put on my own calendar was also the 20th, trying to be realistic.

@Arrowpine - I would take the check for full payment with me rather than paying in advance. That way, you can walk out, if you notice something isn't to your liking. Like in my case, I could've told them to fix the minors paint chips before I will take the delivery of the car. They gave me that option. Just a thought.

Originally from NE Wisconsin along the border with the UP, now on the other side of the state in Lacrosse area

God's country; prettier than Racine. We moved to SC 14 years ago but we still have family and friends north. Lots of great memories skiing the UP, weekends in Door Co, Taliesin, House on the Rock, etc. But since moving we visited places new to us and we have created memories in places we would never have experienced.

Maybe there will be a few more road trips with the MS, but I will admit to a wee bit of anxiety traveling to some of the more remote destinations in SC, NC & GA. We are not flush with Superchargers here. There are Superchargers planned but not yet installed in two very key locations for us; Charleston, SC and Madison, GA. The website says they will be installed this year, we are hoping for June or July, and not December.

Called my DA Sat 3 March New appointment is Wednesday the 7th!!!
I will say both my DA and OA have been very understanding and forthcoming throughout.
Delivery March 7th!!!!

Exhausted after long day. Everything went perfectly with the delivery. EAP finished calibrating about half way home and it drove most of the second half without incident. I have to say the TACC and EAP exceeded my expectations. Went out to dinner and she pretty much drove herself on the local roads I wasn't expecting that. Very happy but too tired to say much more tonight. It was definitely worth the wait.

Model S 75D, Blue Metallic, Cream Interior, EAP, PUP.
