How long is it from VIN to delivery? I had a P100D ready for delivery last week but declined delivery because old MCU and re-ordered on March 16. I received a VIN yesterday.

I feel like my first P100D order I had took much longer to get the VIN.

Over on the Model 3 forum they're talking about how it's 3-7 days from vin to "completed production". I know it's not the same with the Model S, but for something scheduled for a June estimated delivery, a March VIN seems awfully early. Wishful thinking?

Any insight?

There seems to be massive variability depending on configuration, delivery location, etc. I ordered 12/26, received a VIN fairly quickly and am still awaiting final delivery. They are now promising 3/31. Tesla’s VINs seem to be more of an order number than a production sequencing mechanism. YMMV.

What time of day did you get your message (and time zone)? Wondering if these messages go out in batches and seeing what time of day they go out.

I don't know. I went up on my MyTesla and found it. I NEVER get any emails like many have reported.

Vin: 2/13
Production 3/13
Delivery: 3/22

That was the time table for my p100d.

However i had a cali car, which meant we got the last end of production.
Which to me was sigh... but turned out to be THANK YOU, cuz i think most if not all the cars scheduled for march delivery for cali got the MCU2.

Congrats. The Ludicrous mode is SICK! I've been driving a P90D Model X and loving the jet-like speed. Such a rollercoaster to drive, and my kids want it all the time, haha.

The Ludicrous editions are insane.
I scared the hell out of my friend today.
I told her i was gonna launch it, and she was like OK....
Then i launched and she's all quiet.
I look at her and she told me, she forgot to scream in that 3 seconds it took to get past freeway merging speed and then some.

She also said its the last she's gonna get a ride from me in my car if i do that again.
She's a Prius driver btw, so its definitely something she's not comfortable with.

Honestly don't feel so bad.

We new MCU guys have a ton of problems...

1. The Summon seems broken.
So far i cant think of anyone with a new MCU whose summon works.

2. The WiFi...

I happened to order around the same time as you - March 14th. I have not received a VIN, but a delivery specialist told me the car is scheduled to enter production the second week of May, and that a late-May delivery is likely. (The configurator indicated “June delivery”)

I picked my car up today. What a fantastic machine! I drove it 170 miles and enjoyed nearly every one of them. No regrets here!

I've had mine 10 days I haven't hit 170 miles yet!

Picked up my 75D yesterday. No issues. Drove it straight to detail shop a San Diego for a wrap / Opti-Coat. Parked it with 13 miles on it: better be the same when I pick it up next week

Picked it up today. Minor buffing to some interior parts. Old MCU, but honestly it doesn’t matter. Still accelerates like a mother, still quiet as can be. I’m happy.

Had the 3D maxpidet mats, which my DS had never seen before. He thought they were slick.

Got some Tesla swag too after asking. Not sure what’s in the goodie bag.

Picked it up today. Minor buffing to some interior parts. Old MCU, but honestly it doesn’t matter. Still accelerates like a mother, still quiet as can be. I’m happy.

Had the 3D maxpidet mats, which my DS had never seen before. He thought they were slick.

Got some Tesla swag too after asking. Not sure what’s in the goodie bag.

Did you freak the family out with full-on take-off/acceleration? That’s what I did after I tried to explain the instant torque vs an ICE car. Figured I was blabbering too much so just decided to floor it.

Mine works but only using the KeyFob. There’s an option in the summon settings that you need to disable. After that it seemed to work. I’ll check my car and update in a bit

In the category of believe it or not..... i picked up my brand new 100D last night at 17:30.... by 13:45 today.... it was at the costa mesa service center because the passenger rear window is acting like its fallen off its track.... the service technician believes both regulators in the rear need to replaced..the really irritating part us tgat my car arrived on monday.... and i took delivery four days later..... surely.... soneone could have done a quality check Prior to delivery .. if this was a Yugo.... that would be one thing.... but when one drops $116,000.... its inexcusable

So here's the thing, mine is the Old MCU as well. I didn't realize it until i went to the test website that show's you what is running. I originally thought I had to have it. My new car screens are noticeably faster than my 2014 was it isn't funny. I moved the maps all around like they guy in the demo video and mine appears to be ever bit as fast as what was shown in the video. So, it may be the older MCU but it's certainly faster than my Mid 2014 car.

It’s fine, I haven’t found anything wrong yet. I charged at a charge point today using the adapter and got it stuck in the charger.

Tesla should me the button on the display under charging to get it to release the adapter Tesla called to see how I was doing on the car using the old MCU. He told me there currently beta testing a new map program to greatly improve our navigation program and display. They knew how unpleased I was getting an old MCU. Auto pilot started working which is a lot smoother than the version I test drove. The ping pong is gone

So they didn't offer any resolution to you getting the OLD MCU other than telling you about the upcoming update?
