Wiki Model S Delivery Update

It's tough being patient! (If this is patience.) I see six cars on the Order & Delivery list with delivery dates that finished production on or after mine (5/16) and all are destined for the East Coast, so I asked my DS if he had any infor. He wrote, "I won’t be able to provide a delivery date until your Tesla is in its final leg of its journey." So how did FL, MD, GA, VA, NC get their delivery dates? I thought it might be a train to the south but MD not far from me. Right now I wish I still lived in Denver!

I hear ya. I literally got that same email last week. Word for word "final leg" blahh blahh I would also love to know how all these others have their dates set too!

I have no idea why, but I’m not going to complain. The other thing that I haven’t seen anywhere is this Delivery Workshop that they emailed and invited my wife and I to. Has anyone else?

Maybe they’re trialing new delivery processes in Atlanta or something in preparation for the Model 3 ramp?

Seeing your cars new makes me think! Does Tesla mount that front plate bracket from the factory? I always pull mine off on my cars. I hate how they look on nice cars.

I asked them a while ago if they could not install the front plate holder or take it off when delivered and they said they could not and they all come with it attached. However, they did assure me that they come off easily. Oddly, the M3 and MX do not have them on when they are delivered, this is curious. .

I don't like the look with the front plate but its not worth the fight or the ticket in my opinion. I'll get used to it there.....eventually

My previous cars did not have a front tag and I have not had any problems. However, I never parked on the street and that is where I believe you need it, from what I have heard. I have never been pulled over for not displaying a front number plate. I would 100% not have a front plate holder if I had a M3 or a MX.

I am a bit undecided on whether to have it or not, I really dislike front number plates.

I feel there may be some changes occurring in Tesla. I just read last night that they will not provide VIN numbers until 1 week before delivery. It's a lot of work for these guys to be searching and making phone calls. Seems like a simple solution is in a simple database with bar code scanners tracking VIN's but, if they are not giving VIN's.... A simple real time tracking does not seem very difficult.

Why would they stop giving VIN's? They how you get accurate insurance quotes etc.. Plus I think if they would scan the VINS at different points maybe they can provide a very accurate tracking system.

I was told by my DS vehicles must be delivered as they were crash tested. However, the front license plate is held on by adhesive not bolted on. So if you head over to your local Tesla Service Center after delivery, they can remove the front license plate without damaging your vehicle.

My father was a police officer for 34 years....100% positive you need to have a front plate in CO if you operate a motor vehicle on public roadways.
Once a cop always a cop. He makes sure I know I'm in the last month of my registration and need to renew. Talk about an awkward conversation if I show up with no front plate.

Here's the statue if you're bored: Colorado revised statues,42-3-202 Number plate to be attached....

I will take that versus just what someone said. It is not attractive but I also do not want to be pulled over for something silly like not having a front number plate.

CO has some odd laws with license plates. I remember about 10 years ago, CO made it a law you have to place your "month" and "year" stickers in the right place on you plate or you can get a ticket. You can bet my dad made sure mine were in the right place.

My Tesla account still says "In transit." Is your delivery still scheduled for tomorrow?

I’m curious, are most of you emailing or calling your delivery specialist for updates or are they contacting you proactively?

I feel like every time I’ve gotten any update I had to email asking for it. I’ve only sent like one email a week, maybe two.

My Delivery Specialist has been proactive in providing updates. I have had a couple points of contact through this process and they have been or I feel they have been very responsive and eager to assist. My Delivery Specialist has always responded to all my questions in reasonable time frame. I asked a lot of questions.

I have emailed mine less than a handful of times..... mine was very accurate and informative about projected production and delivery dates from the first phone call; subsequent communication was just me asking if the original timeframe seemed accurate, which it was, almost to the day. You could argue that you're spending a large amount of money and you should be able to enquire at will, but my gut told me not to overdo it, so as to get full attention when/if required.
