Picked up the car yesterday. DES John Stuckey at Springfield NJ Center was great! Very patiently went over, all the features with my wife and me. I drove my daughters and F-in-law in it so far, everyone is awed. A lot of gadgets to get used to. Couldn't figure out how to unlock passenger side to let someone in while in drivers seat lol. Regen braking is really easy to get used to.

dont have my charger yet because we hadn't reckoned on getting the car so soon. It will be installed on Monday. #firstworldproblems However, after driving it for 25 miles yesterday, I plugged it into my regular 110V outlet in the garage at 130am. It had charged back up by the morning (at 120v and 12 amps it projected 6 hours to charge back up from 214 to 240 miles).

good luck for an early delivery for all those of you that are waiting for your cars! It's worth the wait.

All the best!

I am SOOOOO jealous!!!!

My car which started production on July 10th is still in production. The estimated delivery is now moved from August to Late August. What a bummer. GOPJEW, congrats on the car. Enjoy.
Woodturnerdude - that makes NO sense. What did your DS say? I'd call him...there's nothing he can do except find out what's happening but some folks, whose cars failed post-production inspection, have gotten free loaners...

My 85D, which is out of production and in transit (started production on 7/15 and finished 7/21) has been pushed back to September delivery - I can't figure out why it takes 6 weeks to move it across crountry....

Guys, my commiserations. My DES was v. patient and helpful during the last few days. Yours should be able to tell you what's going on with the car, esp. yours, Woodturnerdude. The delay makes no sense unless something went wrong.

Suspect I simply got lucky and the car got on a truck to NJ carrying some priority payload because there was room.

UPDATE - DS emailed me this morning to say that the September message was a mistake! Mine is one of the first being transported to East Coast via rail:

"It is currently expected to arrive in Chicago to change lines on the 29[SUP]th[/SUP] of July. From there it will go to New Jersey and then Rockville via truck for the final leg. Our system is showing an ETA to New Jersey of the 5[SUP]th[/SUP] of August. From there we can expect an additional three to four days to get to Rockville and then about 72 hours of final preparation once we have the car. Right now August 11[SUP]th[/SUP] through 16[SUP]th[/SUP] is a reasonable estimate for your delivery."

Hooray!

Yes, it isn't immediately obvious. If the car is in drive then you'll have to hit "Controls", then "Unlock". If you put it in Park, then the passenger on the outside should be able to push the handle to get it to extend. (Or you can hit "Controls", then "Unlock").

In a pinch, you can always open a door from the inside, whether it was locked or not. Bit of a stretch, and make sure you're in Park... :)

Yes my daughters figured the bit about touching the handle and I eventually found the controls unlock, still, thanks!

Today my wife texts me at work saying she can't locate the latch to the glove compartment ...
