"broken" = broken apart into smaller units. You break a train from 100 cars down to two trains of 50 cars or similar.

ahh, I thought it meant that the train had literally broken down, which would (possibly) explain the delay, thanks

My DS said I'm scheduled for this week. I'll let you know when production start is confirmed.
That's what my DS said as well, confirmed on 7/31, due for production this week.
Usually trains that break down (ie. engine goes bonk) can be fixed relatively fast with a new engine or two pulled into position. No tow trucks for trains. Worst thing that can happen to a train is rails being bent due to nasty heat or derailment.
Locomotives rarely break down, as they use reliable electric propulsion.

What's your service center? I'm in SoCal also and confirmed my order on July 10th. Haven't even begun production yet. Even if we have different service centers, I think hearing about your timeline warrants me giving my DS a phone call.
I understand he probably can't do anything about it, but I'd like to know why I'm falling behind.

My ordered my 75D on 7/17/16. It was confirmed on 7/24/16. It is in production today 8/15/26 (was still in production queue this morning). My delivery center is Buena Park, CA.
