Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Beauty. Did you take delivery at Lawrence? Anything to note that is location specific that would be useful?

Yes, took delivery at Lawrence. I had seen some videos online where it's a big thing with people pulling drapes off the cars and it in a special location all nicely lit and such. That was not the case here. It was just in line in front of the service desk. So no big fancy reveal. I was slightly disappointed to be honest. But that's ok, no big deal. The car makes up for it. :)

My DS, Jason, was there and handled the paperwork quickly and efficiently. There was another gave who gave the overview/tour of the car who did a great job. My wife knew nothing about the car beforehand so it was mostly for her. They took time for all our questions and were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall, a great experience. Certainly better than any I've had for my previous new cars (Honda & Infiniti).

They told me the day before it would be about 45 mins, but in total I think it was maybe 2h. We soaked it all in, but I guess could have pushed it to go faster if we wanted. Budget your time accordingly.

The most stressful part was turning left out of there across 5 lanes of traffic to get onto the DVP! ;) Didn't want to total the car in the first 50ft!

Ordered our custom-built Model S at the end of May and was told the car would be here by end of June. A week later we were told car would be here in July (possibly August). We had already signed contract to sell existing car to new owner in June based on promise to have Model S arrive in June. Tesla stepped up and offered a rental car to hold us over until our Model S arrives. Car just went into production today according to the website. Hope it all goes well!!

I'm a little annoyed and any suggestions are appreaciated. This is my second Tesla. First Tesla was a complete build online and the manufacturing experience, communication experience and delivery was 110% exceptional service.. Well, fast forward to Tesla 2 (Inventory) bought last Tueday. Finace was completed Wedneday, Thursday she told me it was ready for delivery that same day. Well, later on she text me and says "we may have to hold off until Friday." Hesitant, but sure.. Then friday EVENING(7:30) she text me and says "we need your LLC paperwork sent to someone in Denver"(I live in Dallas). What the hell ever- but okay.. So fast forward to today, I still don't have vehicle and I texted her at 8am this morning and not a single response yet. Getting very annoyed and shouldn't be treated like this. Last text I got from her was yesterday morning saying and I quote 'Probably Wednesday delivery'.. I don't have a vehicle and they know this, the lact of communcation is what's pissing me off. Especially after they promised to "expediate".

You are not alone in the odd communication realm with Tesla. Keep bugging them and keep trying is all I can say.

I am in the EXACT same boat except my old car is already sold. I have a "delivery date" of 6/30 @ 17:00 (can't be much later in June) but I doubt they will make it. Guess I'll have to ask about a loaner.

Tesla actually has really, really bad customer service. I am disappointed. I may still end up cancelling the order - we'll see.

So my delivery is supposedly in 2 days, but my DS has gone on vacation. I have tried calling the service center and corporate to try and finalize my financing/trade-in but they have been impossible to reach (just go to voicemail and they haven't called back). Shouldn't I be wiring the payment and such ahead of time? Can anyone speak to the experience in the days leading up to delivery?

So turns out she wasn't on vacation after all (the autoresponder just had the wrong date). I have everything squared away, down payment wired, ready to pick up tomorrow morning. All in all the wait has not been bad for me, ordered May 16 and Will Pick up June 15 so it's been almost exactly one month. When I ordered the estimated timeframe was "Late June - July" so it looks like things are ahead of schedule.

I must say, for me the experience has been great. Except for one day (the DS didn't work Sunday and Monday), I never had trouble getting in touch with my DS or someone at Corporate to help with my financing or answer questions.

Judging from the varying experiences here, I feel like Tesla could centralize much more of the delivery process so that the quality and consistency of the experience can be more tightly managed. Do we really need delivery "specialists" that work locally at your delivery center?

The portal still shows my car as "In Production" but I now have a date range of June 18, 2017 - July 2, 2017... I have an appointment on the 27th but will try and move it up earlier...we are on the home stretch.

Is it weird that I keep refreshing the page in hopes that it will say "Production Completed"?

Entered Production: 6/15 (with web site saying "July - early August delivery")

Still excited even though I share a Model X.
Kinda sorry to see the Chevy Volt go ...
great car ... cheap to drive... just too small.
There is just something special about the Teslas.

Anyone else order a S 100D in April 2017 just before the price increase? Did you Order Smart Air Suspension? Has your car been delivered? If so, does it have smart Air Suspension even though you did not order it?

I think Robbit is in exactly that boat. Check with him. I think he was slated for delivery today. My belief is they would not build in the SAS for those who did not order it on the chance they specifically did NOT want it, but he'd know for sure.

Picked up my S this afternoon and drove all day! Supercharging for the first time was fun, too.

One of the coolest things about this car is the HEPA filter. I was at a stop sign-to my left was a poor dead skunk, and to my right a whole bunch of cows behind a fence. I couldn't smell a thing in the car, and biodefense mode wasn't even on. I cracked open a window and was hit with a whole bunch of nasty smells at once. Closed the window and all smells vanished fairly quickly.

As someone with seasonal allergies this is going to be a game changer for me. Absolutely worth the high cost for premium upgrade. No regrets.

I would LOVE to see before and after pics when you get the opportunity. I went with Pearl White as well and I'm curious how yours will look after modifications. I plan to keep mine simple. Going from 98 Camry to Tesla S seems significant enough.

I'm cringing at the thought of handing my S over but seems important to protect the paint. Is it foolish that I am putting off windows tinting, radar & laser detector, for undetermined length of time?

Got that feeling when I did the test drive. Pulled out in the rain and they were doing construction. Today traffic was light and it was clear sky.

I'm good without the show so I didn't mind that. Thanks for the heads up about it taking longer than expected. I was there for about an hour going through everything. I found no issues and the DS graciously answers my long list of questions and let me go through my checklist.

Well after 56 days from order to delivery, here it is:
