due bill: spoiler, parcel shelf, HPWC, P85 badge.

Got the call from the driver this morning. I wasn't expecting the car until next week. Nice Saturday surprise. Have about 3 hours more until he gets here..... will post photos when possible.

P85, Blue, Black interior, 21" grey wheels...everything else except the rear seats

Ya, got my delivery button on the 5th, but I think it's early. Then I got my VIN by email at 5:30PM PST yesterday, but then again, perhaps it's because I got my delivery button early. I'm guessing they'll switch to 60's in two weeks.
What's your VIN? I think the only other 60 I saw recently finished was a leftover from the initial batch of 60s. VIN much lower than the current ones rolling off. Looks like the 6600+ range is rolling off now, and recent delivery button recipients are in the 7000 range.

The car...she has arrived.

Funny story, I was test driving (for fun) a 2013 red 911 C4S when the transport driver called and told me he was in town. The dealership let me take the car (with a friend) to meet the driver. I think they just really wanted to see the Tesla. So we met the driver and drove back to the Porsche dealership. The C4S for those who are into porsche, drives better than my 2012 C2S. Anyway, just some very quick thoughts.....

Color: Exterior...Blue....love it. Your really can't go wrong with any color on the MS, but the blue is great, I'm relieved as I was worried I made the wrong decision to go with blue (after initially picking black and then grey). Interior: Black....knew it would be a good choice (went with the carbon fiber dash), very happy with that. 21" grey wheels...love them.

Battery: P85...very happy I went with the largest battery! After driving around like a madman, the more range you can afford, the better....trust me.....my car came with 50 miles on the ODO (at least that's what the paperwork said, I neglected to look at the actual number when I first got the car) and a range of 223 miles....I drove 33 miles (88 miles on the ODO currently) and the charge went down to 125 miles of range. Now a couple of things to note: I am not positive I did have 50 miles on the ODO as I did not check....I drove it like I stole it...2-4 people in the car at various times, flooring it, pushing it around...so take all that into account.

Touch screen: There is a reason people are so positive about it. Very easy to use. If you can use a tablet, you can use this screen.

Seats: Comfy. Not the most comfortable ever, but pretty damn good for the short period of time I was in them. They are fairly adjustable.

Steering wheel: I generally dislike thick steering wheels, but this one is good. Nice feel, the buttons work great.

Drivability: Very smooth. Solid feel on the road, very little wind noise (you hear some from the side mirror and a little droning from the 21" wheels. The acceleration is silly fun. Very confident sports cruiser on the highway. I was worried the car would feel too big, but it does not. You feel a tiny bit of the car's weight on fast turns or very quick lane changes but it's not bad at all (I am comparing this to a porsche). Felt planted and in control at all times.

The only negatives for me, so far, are: The front windshield distortion. It is certainly not a deal breaker, but you do see it. It isn't a safety hazard but OCD people will notice it.....The lack of "oh sh*t" bars was an oversight. They really need to add those.......... If you use the backseat regularly, the lack of cup holders is an issue (and OS bars)......

I did not get a "due bill"... but a few items were missing. I need a 6-50 adapter, they did not include it (though they asked if I would need one). Right now I am using a standard wall plug...... I did not get a cargo net for the frunk (not sure if those come standard)..... No carbon fiber spoiler. I sent the delivery specialist a note of what was missing. Hope to hear back from her on Monday. **UPDATE** The DS got back to me yesterday afternoon.

Initial impressions are very good. Everyone thinks the car is beautiful. Those who drove it, loved it. Solid as rock. Hard to believe this is a first model year from a start-up. I have no misaligned panels. Everything is working as it should.

I included one crappy iphone pic of the MS (better ones tomorrow) and one shot of the 991 we drove there (since most of us are car people).

Just took delivery of Vin 6556 at the Bellevue, WA service center. They had around 30 Model S's there, so many wow. The DS said that they deliver 7-8 a day out of that location alone. They are open at least 6 days a week so that is 48 cars a week. Wow 1/10th of Tesla's weekly production capacity is being delivered right here in my back yard. On my due bill: spoiler, parcel shelf, hpwc. Right now I am charging using my old DS-50 that I recently upgraded from an Avcon connector to a J1772. I was charging my factory Ford Ranger EV with it, amazing you can just plug 1998 technology right into 2013 technology.

Quibbs,
You win the "bluest blue Tesla" photo contest, and maybe best iphone photo too. On a bright day that blue really looks great. congrats!

Agreed...this is a great photo! I hesitated on blue with the black interior and grey wheels, so I went black/black, but your car looks fantastic. I just sold my 2009 C2S Cabrio, too. Not sure what to replace it with, but not much else is interesting right now with a P85 in the garage!

Quibbs, your S looks awesome. Mine with identical specs to arrive- hopefully this week. Did yours have the P85 badge? What's your plans with the Porsche? I also have a 997 Targa 4S, probably continue to drive it and rotate around with the S and our 100% emission, gas guzzling range rover :scared:

Max-

You will be very happy with your color choices and options. Of course I may be a bit biased.

Unfortunately, no badge. I need to add that to the email I already sent to my DS (and add the parcel shelf to the "what's due" list).

I will most likely keep the 911 for the time being. It does drive great and I do love the engine note. Eventually I may upgrade to a C4S when the time is right. If I find that the 911 is becoming a garage queen I may sell that car and my wife's mini and just buy us a 981 Boxster S. I know the wife would drive that and I would have one less insurance and tax bill. That C4S did handle really well...hmmm ;)

@papafox and lagunadallas - thanks for the kind words about the photo... laguna, you really can't go wrong with black/black, on the MS it really is stunning

@Quibbs - I think the paperwork always says 50 miles on the ODO. Mine did, but the car actually only had 16 when I picked it up.

I think you are probably correct. That would make more sense.

Reservation 12,111 (VIN645x) was delivered today at the factory (Grey, S85). I'm currently in the Netherlands on business, so I wasn't able to attend the delivery event with my dad; however, my sister did send me this picture (I apologize for the poor quality, but I'll take what I can get).

Per my dad, no 85 badge on the back, which he was happy about.

On a final note, I want to extend a huge thank you to the designers of the Tesla app. Since I had it installed on my phone, I was able to honk the horn and open/close the sunroof from halfway around the world to show how the app worked during the vehicle orientation portion of the tour. Being able to do the demonstration gave me the opportunity to share a small part of the experience with my family, and I am incredibly thankful for that. My grandmother (who's over 85 years old) attended the delivery as well, and according to my sister, couldn't comprehend how I was controlling the car :0)

Now my own countdown begins...19 days until I'm back in the 'States and can take the car out for a drive!

Delivery of VIN 5990 happened about 5:30pm EDST today. My street is a little narrow for the 18 wheeler, so we met the driver at a Lowes about 6 miles from my house. The car came from the Raleigh, NC service center which the driver told me really is just a stockpile location for cars right now. He did an excellent job, called me a few times to give me updates on arrival time. He also gave the car a nice wipedown before officially turning it over to me. I brought the google docs checklist but was so excited I never even pulled it out. I just verified that the charge cable and adapters were present and accounted for, did a walkaround to verify no major dings. Car had 12 miles on the odometer and over 200 miles charge. Panel alignment looks great to my untrained eye. For others still waiting out there, he had delivered a silver MS to Roanoke, but no other Teslas on the truck. I have 2 kids, a 13 year old boy who knew about the car but had a get-together with friends, so couldn't make the delivery. My 6 year old, a huge car nut, we kept in the dark. The wife went back home and we men went for a spin in the new wheels. This car (standard 85 mind you) is seriously fast. The little guy giggled the whole time. We got a couple of gawkers and one thumbs up in our 25 minute drive home (took the long way). AFIK this is the only Model S in my town.

I took a few pics with the crappy point and shoot, but I was too much into just taking in the whole situation rather than taking photos, sorry everyone. I'll try to get some up with the DSLR in the next few days. The pulsing green charging light brought a suckling baby to my mind, but didn't capture with the picture. The Model S took to the home teat just fine!
