Wiki Model S Delivery Update

My factory tour today was great. Seeing how they build these cars gives you an even greater appreciation for the design and construction of the car. However, I completely failed to find out any information about what they are currently producing (other than Model S, X and 3). I asked about delivery times and she told me what she thought the website said (6 - 10 weeks). Totally non-committal.

The tour only covered building the bodies, which are completely symmetrical and give no clue as to where the steering wheel will be. We did not see anything inside the car except maybe a wiring harness, but at a great distance.

The one encouraging note is that they are producing 1000 cars a day (mostly Model 3). I don't know what the current backlog is, buy they should fill it pretty quickly once they start building US cars.

It’s looks like they’re building US cars now given that I’m collecting my 2 Oct Model S order on 8 Nov and it was a new factory order.

Follow-up... just gave Tesla a call asking for some sort of update. Best they could say is that with order date of 10/5/19 to expect delivery end of November, beginning of December.

Following up again... spoke to a delivery specialist. They told me that the car would be “completed by the 14th or 15th of November, but this is entirely an estimation therefore it is not a commitment. But if this estimation holds, the car would be ready to schedule delivery then.” Seeing as I live near the Fremont factory my hope is that delivery could then could take place almost immediate or within a day or do and beat the late November / early December timeframe I was given last time. But I am not holding my breath.

A friendly heads up, if this is your first Tesla: Make sure this is *not* an inventory car. If it is, which is OK, make sure you do your due diligence (extra) when picking the car up. Especially if it has more than 200 miles on it.

G'luck, congrats on the car & welcome to the fold.
Thanks, but this is my 2nd. 1st was in Dec 2016, 75D (see my member photo). I did receive my new 2020 MS LR on 10/24 with 8 miles on it :).

Also have a 10/8 order for a Model S LR. Red paint, black interior, delivery to Spokane, WA. Haven't heard anything about timelines. The sales advisor they gave me doesn't have any more information than I have. I'm hoping for some info this week. Fingers crossed!

Sales reps aren’t always the best informed. Seems to be some disconnect with the sales reps in the show rooms and what is happening at the factory. Honestly you may have better luck calling Tesla’s number - (888) 518-3752 - it can be a dice roll on if the delivery adviser that picks up is helpful or not. But if you get one that is helpful, they can give you a estimate of completetion but will PAINFULLY make it clear that it by no means is a gaurentee. Just say that you ordered on 10/8 and was curious if the estimate that is on the site currently is effective from the date you ordered or if that is the wait time for your order right now. At least that is what I said to the advisor I spoke with on Friday. She asked for my RN# and said she was going to place me on a brief hold and call the vehicle department to see where they are with my car. She then gave me an estimate that vechicle team gave her of completetion on Nov 14/15 for my 10/5 order. Good luck!

New here, hello everybody!

I placed an order for a M6 SR on 10/16 was told it was only 1 of 2 remaining in the US! Listed as a new inventory car with 18miles.
Was told between 7-14+ days for delivery.

Before I placed the order there was a VIN associated with the car. Once I ordered, the VIN is no longer seen under my account. Is this odd?
Any chance they would assign a different VIN with similar specs?

Any precautions I should be aware of?

Thanks!

Where was the car located? Was it local to you or would they need to ship it from another part of the country?

Fairly local, within my local Tesla dealers “region” from Springfield NJ to Tyco Rd, Tyson’s corner VA.

Gotcha, I ask because there was a thread going around about VIN number be assigned to one person and then the car was redirected to someone closer to the car because it was cheaper for Tesla to ship to the closer person. Definitely contact to see what's up.

Ordered 10/16 - LR, MCR, Cream Interior, 21" - custom order. Almost pulled the trigger on an inventory performance model so that I could pick up immediately, but would have been a difference of $10k. I'm pretty impatient (as most of us here apparently are), but happy my service advisor has been so unresponsive that I wasn't able to make the swap. Slowly watched all of the other inventory models fade away to zero here in the SoCal area. Tough not to check multiple times a day, but I'm going to drive myself insane by doing so! lol. o_O

Placed my order on 10.08.19 for a Model S LR with cream interior for delivery to SLC, UT. Was told today by the local sales office that expected delivery is near the end of the quarter and most likely 2nd week of December. Long wait, but I know it will be worth it and hoping it comes in sooner.
My wife was told tonight by the local delivery spec., that they are shipping all ti outside of the U.S. like others have said on this post. Crappy part is our trade in qoute from Tesla is only good for 30 days and we are being told we will need another qoute and the offer can change...all this from the same company that told us 2 weeks for delivery on their website when we placed the order and has turned that into 2 months...wtf. Starting to miss my Ford dealership already!

I was told the same on a 2 October US order that’s being delivered on 8 November. I had a quote for trade in but ended up seeking my existing car for more money privately.
