I was told the same on a 2 October US order that’s being delivered on 8 November. I had a quote for trade in but ended up seeking my existing car for more money privately.
Maybe there is hope for a Nov. delivery for me afterall. I am also trying to sell my trade in privately but no luck. Just slightly annoyed with the process at Tesla so far, but I know I will get over it once the car arrives.

Gotcha, I ask because there was a thread going around about VIN number be assigned to one person and then the car was redirected to someone closer to the car because it was cheaper for Tesla to ship to the closer person. Definitely contact to see what's up.
Considering how fast inventory cars vanished I think I need to stay on top of my order. For some reason I feel the car (VIN) I ordered is either going to be swapped out or replaced.
Guess we will wait and see. Thanks for the advice.

also was told last week that they focus on international in the beginning of the quarter, however less so with model 3. No VIN to date, and he left the impression it could be 2-4 more weeks
Just got a text. 11/12 delivery date. I still don’t see a vin online, but will check with them tomorrow

Sales reps aren’t always the best informed. Seems to be some disconnect with the sales reps in the show rooms and what is happening at the factory. Honestly you may have better luck calling Tesla’s number - (888) 518-3752 - it can be a dice roll on if the delivery adviser that picks up is helpful or not. But if you get one that is helpful, they can give you a estimate of completetion but will PAINFULLY make it clear that it by no means is a gaurentee. Just say that you ordered on 10/8 and was curious if the estimate that is on the site currently is effective from the date you ordered or if that is the wait time for your order right now. At least that is what I said to the advisor I spoke with on Friday. She asked for my RN# and said she was going to place me on a brief hold and call the vehicle department to see where they are with my car. She then gave me an estimate that vechicle team gave her of completetion on Nov 14/15 for my 10/5 order. Good luck!

Called and "Denzel" at Tesla told me that my car is in production and that I should expect delivery 5-7 weeks from my order date. I'd be ecstatic if that's true. I don't see an estimate on my Tesla order page like some have described but I suppose I'll take Denzel's word for it!

Congratulations. Ordered 10/17 , white with cream interior LR. I called the Tesla number, but I got no useful information. The rep would not make any generalizations on when I can expect delivery. I was originally told 4-8 weeks when I ordered but at my local Tesla store they now say up to 10 weeks.
 
So, as mentioned in a previous post. I placed my order for a New inventory, MS SR black/black 21” with a VIN on 10/16.
Was told 7-14+ days for delivery.
Asked for an update and this is the reply I received today.

“I regretfully inform you that appears that the vehicle you had purchased on the inventory site had significant issues and thus was unmatched from your account by my logistic team since it was sent to a vehicle refurb center, I apologize for the inconvenience this is going to cause.

There is currently no other vehicles that are Standard Range Model S's, so the reason for my email is to see if you would want to either move forward with a more expensive Long Range Model S, Model 3, or to submit a cancellation request.

Please let me know what you would like to do, and again, I do apologize.”

how do I handle this one?

Ordered new Model S LR, White with black interior, 21" wheels on 10/7. Not managed to get an estimate on delivery, no communication from Tesla outside of the "Thanks for the order" email. Slightly disappointing to not be able to track an order through production given the $90k price tag, but then again am I expecting too much?

In addition to the “thanks for your order” email, you should have received an email showing the 5 steps to complete prior to delivery. If not, you need to call Tesla. The email looks like this:

The first email email was an instant, generic, “thanks for the order” email from [email protected]. The second is a little more personable (although still a form letter I’m sure), which should have come from your Delivery Experience Specialist. In my case, this email arrived the following day (10/13) from an email address, [email protected]. Perhaps double check your spam, junk, and/or clutter folders. If you did not receive any correspondence, I’d assume there is an issue.
 
Ordered new Model S Performance, White with black/cf interior on 10/23. Got text today saying ready for delivery. Pick up scheduled on Tuesday 11/5. I’m on East Coast.
Congratulations. Ordered on October 17, no hint of production yet. White model S LR with cream interior. I have noticed locally a model s was available for sale with 1,000 miles which likely was used as a demo unit.
 
I'm still trying to figure out why I have been notified seemingly before others when I clearly ordered after and I'm on the other side of the country. As I said before, it looks like a new build based on the VIN....
