Wiki Model S Delivery Update

To all with first deliveries, make sure to fully inspect the car paint, panel alignment (open close the frunk, doors, all which were misaligned on my first S) - given that TESLA has made improvements my first S was full of mechanical issues - all of which were taken care of by my local TESLA dealer in Seaside (NORCAL / Monterey Area) who are masters of reworking what the factory failed to inspect.

My new S was ordered in Oct and I received a text this weekend stating the delivery would be on the 26th (days notice) stating that if you are not able to pick up the car within a 3 day window they move you back into the mix of orders.

No courtesy call or email to provide a choice of delivery dates, as a matter of fact they stated that I needed to take delivery in a parking lot with a pick up time slot of 2 hours~! I'm out of town and have no problem with the wait for the car, but TESLA has gotten too arrogant in handling customer service- "take it or leave it", even after trying several times to elevate this issue, I get this response:

" So this is how its work , once you got the VIN assigned to your account then you will get a text for the auto scheduling about your delivery day, and if the customer is not able to take delivery within three days we need to release the vin to another customer who is ready to take the delivery that is our policy. Sorry we cannot hold the VIN more than 3 days, then the vin will be assigned for a high demand customer that’s waiting for the car."

I love my car, but I'm not "loving TESLA"- Arrogant and lacking in customer service scheduling skills and manners

Are you buying a Tesla Model S or a Nissan Versa (MRSP around $12,900)? On second thoughts, that response would unacceptable even from a Nissan dealer. Tesla will really have to step up if they wish to compete with the customer service usually provided by established dealerships who sell cars in the Model S price range.

There is no comparison to the purchase experience with a BMW, no clue about Nissan but I'm certain it could not be any worse than my experience with the TESLA for my new S

Ha, I am dealing with this with tires...

I'm getting summer tires on my Model S Performance because that's how they get delivered, even in December.

Imagine spending $100k on a car at any other manufacturer and being told tough *&@# you are getting summer tires in December and no we can't swap them out for you before delivery, we don't have any all seasons to sell you at the service center, and we don't have any service appointments for the same day to swap on other tires anyway...

I am waiting for my second Tesla.....model S......if I were told that, I would tell them to intercourse themselves......I can put up with a lot, but purchasing a $100k car and being subjected to that kind of arrogance, fuc*'em. then I would ask for them to show me email and ask where the delivery date says you have one day.....again, fuc*'em.

Wow 3 days is way to short, last time I saw this discussion it was 7 days, which is better but people have lives and Tesla’s own poor communication is mostly to blame. If the quarter ends in 3 days then I could at least understand that policy even if it’s dumb but they hav plenty of time to book Q4 sales still.

Same. Just got a call tonight that car should be in VA tomorrow and rescheduled delivery from 12/5 to 11/30.

Just got a call from Rockville delivery and my car came off the truck with no glaring issues other than being dirty from transport.

They wanted to move me up to Friday delivery but I’m still moving money around and have to work Friday.

Picked up our 10/8 MS LR yesterday. Car looks great and drives amazing. Didnt notice any paint issues. Doors require a bit of a push to close properly, not sure if that is normal? Also lost about $2k on the trade in because the qoute at order was over 30 days (18 days over) at no fault of ours. Tesla did nothing to make that right or even cared about it. Otherwise the delivery was good.

Picked up my 11/3 MS Performance at Rockville this afternoon.

One exterior paint defect on the top edge of the rear passenger door they will need to remedy at the body shop (looks like the size of a short hair line in the paint, but not raised) but not enough to refuse the car. The rear hatch and bumper alignment could also be better, they noted both.

I drove my wife’s Dual Motor LR 3 to the appointment and the S definitely drives like a bigger heavier car but the steering has just the perfect amount of weight and the Raven suspension is wonderful.

Just picked up. Car was in perfect condition. Arrival to out the door in about 45 minutes. Wanted them to transfer plates so they had to change that in the paperwork. So excited! I keep going out to the garage and sitting in it playing around. LOL

Same here. Ordered 10/17 and no VIN yet, although my local delivery specialist has scheduled my delivery for 12/17.
