Got in touch with my SA today. Great guy. He changed my delivery date to end of Jan.Also stated that since my order is in already that I wouldn't be subject to a price increase if there is one. He also mentioned that something is going in with the MS and no-one knows. Im crossing my fingers that its a refresh.

Does that mean if there is a refresh of some sort that you may get at that price or to get update you would have to amend price?

Took delivery yesterday. After looking over it really well only 2 little things that needed called out. There was a paint "drip" on the bottom of the wheel well they agreed to fix it was honestly so small I am surprised I even saw it. And one of the back door trim was sticking out just a little, and they said they would look at that when I brought it back in, however unless I am seeing what I want to see it looks like now after having it a day the alignment is good??? The rest of the panel gaps looked good and I have not seen any other paint issues. Inside seems perfect.

One tip....If you get a performance model maybe check if the car is in ludicrous mode before leaving the lot so you are not surprised when you floor the accelerator. ;)

My project for today is to get off that front license plate bracket. Lucky to live in a state that eliminated that requirement about 6 months ago. And I really hope I can get a warm enough day this week to wash and ceramic coat it.

I was called by a Tesla Gallery Advisor today (Sunday). Apparently they saw me pricing out the Model S online but not clicking on the ORDER button.

I told him that I was planning to wait for the refresh to be confirmed before I ordered. He said they have heard the rumors but don't know what is actually happening. He encouraged me to go ahead and order now, because it will be 2 - 3 months before the car is actually delivered, and if a refresh happens with a price increase I would be protected on the sales price if I placed an order now.

That made sense to me.

It makes me also wonder if Tesla isn't already seeing sales of the Model S fall off a cliff. Everyone is expecting a refresh, and waiting to see if it happens. I find it amazing they would cold call me on a Sunday afternoon.

I placed my order on 12/5 and the website showed an estimated delivery date range from 12/18-12/31. As of yesterday, the site no longer shows a delivery range, just this message:

"We will reach out to you to schedule your delivery date. Delivery time frame is based on order date, profile submission, delivery location and vehicle configuration."

I'm in no particular hurry, just lurking here to monitor delivery news, customer experiences, rumors, etc. It's great to have this forum since I have had no personal contact from Tesla since my test drive in late November,

Update ......
Went to pick up car today. Did not take delivery but the service center is addressing issues with expectation that I can pick up the car By Tuesday. If it is not to my satisfaction they will order a new car.
Here are the issues....
Minor:
1) Paint scratches on drivers side door. Will try to attach pictures
2) paint issue near headlight. Paint appears to have bubbled and peeled off. Small spot...not a big deal.

Major:
1) Front Passenger door would not close like other doors. Had to use a lot more force to close the door. Tesla reps indicated this was an issue with pressure buildup in the car so the door wouldn’t close fully without some force. I pointed out that the three other doors close perfectly and smoothly. They then said something about needing to adjust the deals on this door....okay.
2) Rear hatch would not close automatically. Push button and hatch appears that it is going to close s all the way down and fail to latch and opens back up again. Strange thing is that Tesla rep said that this was caused by pressure build up in the car that caused the hatch not to lock. To prove this they opened one of the car doors and closed the hatch...it worked. 100% of time the rear hatch closed when you had one of the rear doors open. I told the, that I can’t be expected to have to open a door every time I want to close the rear hatch.

Eventually spoke with the manager who was very helpful and attentive. He advised that he thought these issues would resolve over time as the seals on the car were broken in but acknowledged this is not typical and committed to resolve the issues or would order a new car for us.

My initial feeling is that they were trying to explain away these issues as “normal” but with some pushback they acknowledged they were not okay. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Not an ideal situation but my preference was to have them keep the car for a few days to resolve the minor paint, door and rear hatch issues before I take delivery instead of dealing with it later.

Has anyone else heard this explanation about “pressure” build up in the cabin keeping hatch or doors from closing fully?

We've had nine MS's since 2013, now with a '19 and a '20.

This "pressure" story sounds like pure, 100%, BS.

Just unbelievable how bad Tesla QC and CS have become . . . Elon: What the Hell is going on?!?

I would order and place the 100.00 deposit and ask for a Feb. 1 delivery. That way you would be locked in.

P4201, VIN 2443 - delivered Monday 12/17: great car! Everything positive has been mentioned many times, and it's all true.
My rear hatch lacks power, my navigation doesn't work, dome lights have a life of their own, GPS keeps getting locked up, picture of car on the screen is red but my car is black: Delivery Specialist couldn't figure out why.. I just realized that they loaded the non-tech software on my tech-optioned car.. really lame... called in to TESLA this morning - this will be a check of their customer service and "service recovery" - will post follow up as it happens.

Following up here eight years later. I currently have 261,000 miles, still love every moment that I’m in the car. Car received a new battery pack, I was very fortunate to receive the latest replacement pack that has 289 miles of range. Picture is from today.

That is one of the more pathetic series of excuses to come out of the Tesla cave.

The cabin pressure is too high for the rear hatch or the passenger door to close ? Is Elon selling Boeing jets ?

Let's join the world of the practical and pragmatic. $80,000 cars should not exhibit these issues.

$20,000 cars from the legacy automakers do not exhibit these issues.

When the new kids... Mach-E - ID4 - Ariya etc come to market next year Elon will be in a world of hurt.

Just picked up my blue Long Range in Marina Del Rey, CA. Easy process but complete different than just 2 weeks ago when I picked up a Y. FYI, they would NOT take a personal check. 2 weeks ago I paid for the Y in full with a check, but this time they would not even take a check for a much smaller deposit on the S (financed the S).
Overall the delivery was fine. Rear hatch panel gap is not great, but not enough to spoil the deal. Frankly this car is a utility tool for me for the next few years. A mileage sponge for my new 100 round trip commute, so I didn’t overly concern myself with super minute details. It is mostly fine.
That said, I love how it drives so far. Much different than the Y. And much quicker too, even just being the LR. So far I’m very happy with my overall Tesla experience.

Picked her up yesterday. Great experience! Staff was helpful and not frantic, and the car itself is wonderful. I only saw one minor paint deformation near the passenger taillight, but I'm getting the car wrapped so don't really care. The rest of the imperfections I couldn't see at +/- 2ft, and thus don't exist.

The only "bad" thing is that the driver's repeater camera isn't showing/working. When I put it into reverse, it doesn't come on at all. Dunno why. I'm going to do a hard reset on the car and see if that works, if not, I'll call the service technician for an appointment.

Over all a very happy experience!

Edit: Oh! And my car was produced in November, and received it's last/first(?) charge (as per the charging screen) on 17th of November. So guessing it was made the week of 8 November-14 November, depending on how long it takes to make the vehicle.

Gonna need a report on the cookies. How did they turn out, how did they go over, etc.?

Mike

They loved them. I made probably 3 or 4 dozen? Didn't count. Chocolate chip, Snickerdoodle, and Chocolate coffee cookies. They took them to the back room and I didn't see them again, haha, though several people were very excited about it.
