Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Hi everyone! Long time lurker on this forum. Really appreciate all the awesome discussion!

Placed an order for my plaid red/white/cf/21” on the day it was announced, and just today finally have a VIN. You can imagine how excited I was! My question is once a vin is assigned, is it usually a day or two until delivery appointment? I’m in the Bay Area…

Cheers all!
With the end of quarter push they might try to make it Wednesday or Thursday!

Can sure hope! I remember being this excited in 2013 with the P85, brings back so many memories. What a rush of adrenaline. Had the privilege of trading it in for a 2016 P90D (store demo model, EOQ great price) which was such a major upgrade on every level. Can’t imagine stepping inside the Plaid! Sure hoping you are right, only a few days away!

Can someone advise me here on placing my order on hold. I contacted my local store which was not open when I placed my order in March requesting a hold.
Got two responses from two different people asking why.

Have been told I don't have a valid reason to request a hold....
I said I'm concerned of current build quality and lack of upgraded headlights.

Im on hold for original order store.

email response:

"This is *******. ** is our delivery specialist and was inquiring as to the time frame of your delivery and delaying that.

It looks like you have been on the forms my friend, I will give you a fair warning about them and they tend to have a lot of miss information and also spread fear, uncertainty and doubt.

As it turns out “build quality coming out on the refresh and the poor safety ratings on current headlights” is not a valid reason to delay your order.

I will suggest you wait until you are assigned a VIN and actually see your very own Model S and decide for yourself before coming to any conclusions about Model S.

Please let me know if you have any more questions."
I requested a hold to align my financing in June after the plaid+ Cancellation debacle (bought a M3 literally the day before the cancellation). I spoke with an “Operations Advisor” who apparently can make things happen. He said it was not a big deal and to just call back when I was ready to come off hold. I did so in August and got a date not too long after which is November. (White seats). Seems in Tesla, you have to get to an Operations Advisor before things get serious.

I thought it was supposed to be easier to apply for DIY.
Maybe - but I'm referring to the overall protection provided by graphene vs ceramic. I call BS on those who say graphene lasts 10 years. Nothing lasts more than a couple years tops - especially if you use your car in the elements. My S will be garage kept, but will certainly experience all seasons here in MD.

Which vendor is this?

This sounds like an excellent plan to get PPF installed without breaking the bank; so many thousands spent on PPF, and Tesla has given us ZERO on this when we trade in.

Why bother?

(I keep thinking "this time we'll keep it a long time" and . . . our 10th is on order. Oops.)
This seller. You’ll need to message him for PPF for Tesla’s

Almost by exact same history. If you are anything like me, you will be amazed at how Tesla has continued to improve the car. The speed is just hard to describe with people using words like Violent and Staggering. Congrats!!!

So even the PPF only lasts a few years?

You’re describing my experience. 2012 P85 delivered to my house because there was no other way at the time in Georgia. Amazing. Then a P90D. Now a Plaid. I will say this: 2021.5 is beyond next level. 1970s special effects to 2021 special effects.
