Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Are you kidding me? You won't be wanting to cancel the next car as it will undoubtedly be a 2022 with 4680’s and 520 range, tilt screen, active aero, real leather with crocodile inserts, 10k cheaper, free FSD, lifetime supercharging that will transfer to the next owner, your choice of regular steering wheel or yoke and your choice of color with no upcharge.
All that and has hover ability. I'm not accepting a VIN that doesn't hover. Getting another axis out of the yoke.

My EDD changed from January 15th-February 12th to this. Progress? :)

Can one of you savvy veteran car buyers help me with a dumb loan problem? I’m a finance guy but book learning doesn’t beat practical knowledge, and I need it since I finally have a delivery date of 11/24!

I’m trading my Model 3 against the Model S because I get an offset against sales tax that comes out slightly better than Vroom etc; but I also want to finance as much of the S as possible (I’d do $80k happily). If I set up an auto loan with DCU and get approved for my $80k, I now have a $46k trade plus $80k certified check from DCU for a $90k car. Will Tesla cut me a check back for the cash difference? Or will they only draw as much of the loan as require to pay the balance?

Excel won’t help me with this but maybe y’all will!

Haven’t heard of this scenario but I don’t know why not. Confirm with SA that excess value over loan proceeds will be transferred back to you via ACH or company check. DCU will only cut check directly to Tesla.

Your loan check should be for the total cost of the car minus the value of your trade in and any down payment.

You can't overpay for the car with your loan "check". The funding bank will need to cut exactly the difference amount for you.

@donandersonjr so you guys are saying that to maximize financing I’m better off selling to separate party? Damn. That’s annoying. Thanks for the intel.

ETA: I called Tesla and the above is incorrect. They WILL issue a refund for an over financing. However, it takes 1-3 months, which as we all know translates to 6-9 human months. Definitely diminishes the value prop.

I placed an order for Model S LR with standard 19" wheel in March 2021. at the time of ordering, it was showing a delivery date of Oct 2021. I have not received a single update about the status and after couple of emails requesting the status, they replied by email that its estimated to be March/April 2023. That is 6 months delay and 13 months wait from time of ordering. Now I doubt if that date is also achievable, as new orders have delivery date of 2023.
During this time, there was 3 prices increases ($5000X3=$15000), Now, I am also doubting if I will get my original price without the increment.
Is this legal? Shouldn't there be some compensation of the delays?

Still have another 30 pages to go through, but will pause and reply here.

My EDD increased two months to exactly the same time frame as yours, but I ordered a similar car Oct 8th.

This happened a few hours after I made an inquiry at a Store. Monkey? Mother ship? Coincidence? Who knows...

thanks for this, I'm not financing, so the next step would be to determine whether i can pay at delivery in NC or if it needs to happen before hand. Despite trying I cant get my SA or delivery specialist to return my calls..... frustrating

I agree and feel you pain about communication, we all do.

Thinking SA really stands for "Seldom Answers"

The airbag worm is not a defect. they aren't going to do anything about it.

My passenger side door also takes additional force to close, but the panel gaps all line up, so I don't know if having them correct it will make me happier.

After reading this issue, took a close look at an Oct delivery plaid, and found the driver's door gasket not seated fully at the bottom.

Tesla seems to struggle with gasket placement..

Not happy. My EDD just pushed back from 11/10-12/8 to now 11/28-12/26. I have a 1200 mile road trip on 12/20 and really do not want to take my 75D.

I also had an update this morning. Went from Nov 25 - Dec 23 to Nov 26 - Dec 9. Hopefully the two week window means a vin is coming soon.

My config is MSLR wht/blk 19 no fsd, delivering to Houston
Just a few days ago, I was pushed back 11/28-12/26. Now this AM, woke up to a 2-week window, and starting just 3 days from now! 11/17-12/1
Same config. Maybe some white ext getting some love?

Are you ****ing kidding me?! There's no active noise cancellation/road cancellation/pain and suffering cancellation in the latest update?

Here's my prediction: Tesla will NEVER release a functional noise cancellation system. It'll work about as good as their auto wipers forever. Trash. ****ing trash.

Aviation grade ANC headsets, with BT.

Don't drive in the rain.

Don't let the shortcomings ruin your experience. You know what the say about pig wrestling.
