I think the fobs may be left over inventory from the old days. They finally exhausted them and stop providing. You probably will not miss them too much. As for the brake, it may need some breaking in as with any fresh brake pads. In my case, my Model 3 brakes are more firm than my MS LR. May be MS is heavier. I never felt I do not get the stopping power, however.
Yep; it's been a few hours and I don't miss the Key Fob.
That's a good point on the brakes, needing to be "broken in" :)
FYI; I was able to get my score to 98% so hopefully I get the FSD beta; I don't drive much so I will have to get out there and drive.

I have a Feb 2022 MS LR. It came with fobs but there they are ... still on the shelf from day one, still with the battery protecting plastic. You'll never miss them.

I took delivery of my Model S today in Orlando, Florida. It wasn’t missing any of the trunk trim or mats. I didn’t receive any key fobs. I rejected three cars before accepting this one. I had almost given up. The finish on the paint isn’t 💯 percent

The Yoke is okay, but I miss the stalks for the transmission and turn signals. My cameras calibrated in 15 minutes on the highway. Tomorrow I’ll take photos and try (again) to program the Homelink.

Very good to read this post from you Ormond!
Cant wait to see pics.
BTW, grew up in Volusia County, lived in several places in Ormond. Last house was in Timber Creek .

Anyway, congrats on getting your car finally!

I would love to hear a complete report on the good and bad, as you see it after a few days, Ormond.
Partly because I would enjoy the vicarious pleasure, and partly because I am considering bailing on the Tesla Plaid for an alternative.
Enjoy it in good health.

I took delivery today too. It's a new car and very different than every other car. What you are experiencing is a fantom sensation from all the crappy cars that have been in existence since about 100 years ago. Homelink for me worked right away, I could not find ANY issues with the paint except for some minor splatter in places that are hidden; which also is what I experienced in my multiple Mercedes and BMW cars. My wife thought the paint was totally amazing and it does look amazing, we ordered the white exterior. I wish you the best in your search for the perfect car Ormond; If you spend $400,000 on a car or even $1,00,000 you will not find perfection; it's the way things are made. I was looking for things in my car today that really didn't matter, even the gaps I found were really nothing worth doing anything about. This forum is great; but also a place where people tend to over-think things that are insignificant. Cars that are handmade are known to have many imperfections... Enjoy this video of a priceless car
EDIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!: This car blows away my 2018 Model X which I thought was the best car in the world. There is no comparison in the fit and finish and the absolute luxury feels between the two cars.

At gun point, hand them your phone, fob, wallet if demanded. It is not worth risking your life for a car.
Now that I have kids I agree this is the best option
But before having kids I would say, absolutely the **** nah, you wanna take my car? That’s gonna be a no from me, feel free to move on to the next car because I was simply not going to get punked like that. It’s not the car. It’s the principle of the whole thing.

Luckily I grew up in the ghetto where young dudes in nice cars weren’t just carrying a piece, we were carrying pride that wouldn’t allow us to accept being robbed like that. Which meant car jackings at gun point weren’t really a thing, if you want to steal the car best to do it when no one is around to stop you.

Ahh to be young again! I miss it!

I’m glad that you’re happy with your delivery and Model S. I had two previous S deliveries that were embarrassingly poor. The June attempt needed a new rear bumper. After I was told it needed a new rear bumper, there was no way I was taking it. An earlier delivery was over 6 months old and had its air suspension replaced and was used for training purposes. I refused that one too.

The quality varies, hopefully we received good ones.

So, I took delivery of my MSLR on August 02, my first Tesla vehicle.

While I had expected certain things from reading these boards, I have to say I was less than impressed with the whole delivery process. On arrival I checked in and was asked “You have watched the videos”, I had. I was then told “Your car is the one over there with the flashers going, go and have a look at it and when you are done, come back and sign the paperwork”. Not quite what I was expecting as I would have thought that someone would have at least come out and done the walkthrough with me.

All in all the car was in excellent condition, all mats and covers, with only two issues that were noted. The front passenger seat had a major scuff on the headrest, which will be replaced, and a trim panel by the rear passenger seat did not seem to be in place and will also be replaced (service appointment booked for August 8, the SC moved it to August 16 to allow for parts to arrive). The rear passenger door is very slightly out of alignment but it closes properly, seals well and I really don’t want them playing with the hinges. While I was inspecting the car my trade-in was dealt with, licence plates removed, etc.

After inspecting the car I went back in to report what I had found as well as accept and pay for the car. The issues were noted and, after I signed the paperwork I was given the key cards (no fobs) and told it would take about 10 minutes as he would go and take pictures of the issues, upload them along with the paper work and, once that was done, he would come out and give me the thumbs up and I would be good to leave.

Driving home the Autopilot cameras calibrated within, I would say, the first 10km as I was driving on a 4 lane, divided highway however I was not able to activate anything other than traffic aware cruise control until I stopped and was in park, which I didn’t do until I got home.

While on the highway, the noise cancellation was basically unnoticeable, I had turned it on, but I didn’t play with it turning it off and on again. Once I got off the highway and was driving on a secondary road however I noticed a loud, high pitched whine, that seemed to emanate from the left front wheel, so much so that I was almost going to turn back to the SC. Once I turned off the noise cancellation however, the whine went away and then came back when I turned it back on. I am not sure what caused it, however I will have to play with it more to decide if it worth having on or not. XM radio also seems to be intermittent, at least with it turned on, so I will try it with it off and see if there it a difference.

I am still waiting from some of the additional cameras to calibrate after a little under 200km (125 miles) in order to use the auto lane change function of Navigate on Autopilot, auto park, Summon, etc, which I am hoping they will do next week when I have a little more of a drive on a 6 lane divided highway.

All in all I am impressed with the car, the yoke took a lot less getting used to that I though it would, although I will still admit to reaching for the turn signal stock on occasion and I am going to need some more practice getting it into and out of parking spots. It is a wide vehicle and takes a lot more care to thread it through my garage door.

Yeah, there's a lot upsides to Tesla not using the dealer model, but even after buying my 5th Tesla I still miss the fanfare and circumstance when you'd buy something nice at a traditional dealership. Everyone likes to have their ego stroked, and the extra attention they give if you bought the top of the top was always nice, so the in-and-out-in-under-15mins feels a bit abrupt, but overall I DO NOT miss having to go through all the other BS like the extended warranties, tire warranties, VIN etching, etc, etc, etc. Overall, I think it's a net positive.

Agreed, there are a lot fewer offices to have to go and sit it.

One thing that I do wonder though is, as we basically are doing our own PDI, what does the $1280 (in Canada anyway) Delivery and Final Inspection Fee cover?🤷🏻‍♂️

In the US, the fee is a standardized transportation fee. In theory, the cost of transporting the car to sell it should be part of the price, but due to abuse of fees by mfrs and dealerships, the cost to transport a car is now standardized everywhere (even if you pick up at the Fremont CA factory you have to pay the same as someone in Maine). May be similar in Canada?

Has anyone with a refreshed Model SLR?PLAID white seats had them ceramic coated?
If, so what brand?
How is it working?
Would you do it again?

Or avoid all together?

Thank you!
I debated it, but ended up not doing it. If I recall, the white seats (at least) have some factory coating to them to keep them clean. So I did not want to conflict with that and I did not want the ceramic coat liquid to mess with the ventilation holes in at least the front.

Agree Duke. When I went to test drive the BMW IX, I felt like I needed to take a shower. It was sleezy salemanship. The first thing the guy said to me was "you know there is a $10k premium on all our electric cars", I asked where I would have known that, and he told me it was just known. I guess like a code red or the mess hall?

I’m not saying that the no dealership model is bad. I hate the sales tactics, pressure selling, up selling etc that occurs the minute that you show the least bit of interest in a car at a traditional dealership. What was nice though, at the last dealership that I worked with was that, once you got through the slime, they had a ‘delivery specialist’ who basically walked you through the car, pointed out any things I had questions about, etc.

It wasn’t a bad experience, just more like buying a pack of gum than a car…lol

Lol the BMW dealership where I've bought a handful of cars doesn't give me too much gruff and keeps inviting me to all their events. I show up to them (because I like cars, and free food lol) and they ask me when I'm going to come back. I tell them to call me when they have an all-electric M5 CS to rival my Plaid. I really liked the V10 M5 I had back in the day, but they don't make cars like that anymore.
