Model S in production

My model S just went into production. I reside in California and do not wish to have the front license plate bracket mounted. Any California owners who can speak on whether Tesla drills holes in the front bumper and mounts this as a matter of practice?

You'll get an email from your delivery specialist to schedule delivery. Let that person know you don't want it mounted and you should be good. I don't think they drill holes in any case, though.

Also, if you search around the forums there are a few threads of people who removed theirs, so if it does come attached all hope isn't lost...

I live in NM, but since Tesla is not allowed to operate here, my car was a California version. When it was delivered in Aug., it had the front license plate bracket installed. But we don’t have front plates and I found some forum posts about removing it.

Basically, there are no holes drilled in the front. The bracket is secured by two proprietary screws under the front (I removed them using curved needle-nosed pliers), and the bracket is glued to the front. I used a plastic knife to get the bracket separated and then just removed the extra glue with my fingers.

Yep, no holes so no need to worry. It's a bit of a pain to remove it because of how the screws are located, but it's not too bad and if you take it off right away you shouldn't have any residue markings from the adhesive.

Basically, just take it off when you get home and it will be like it was never there - so no need to stress about it before delivery.

I'm eagerly awaiting my MS. When did you order? 100 or 75?

SoAmpt,
I ordered a 75D on the 6th of Nov and heard on the 11th from my DS. I'll ask her if she can let them know to just throw the bracket into the trunk. If she asks why I'll tell her I'm moving to AZ soon and they don't require front plates. Most in Ca don't get hassled for no front plate unless you look shady ;)

Thanks for all of the replies!
