Model S Long Range Renamed to Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive?

Just saw on tesla.com that the naming convention of the standard model s has changed to "Model S Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive". I wonder if this coincides with the shift to the 2022 model year. Screenshot attached.

Seems like they're shaking things up a bit. The base model 3 is no longer "standard range plus", just "Model 3 RWD".

"Long range" stopped making sense for the S once the standard range went away, I see why they're dropping it.

Yeah especially when the difference between the 19" Model S LR and the 19" Model S Plaid is only 9 miles of range!

Thanks for pointing that out. I was going to really be disappointed if they changed the range. I'm surprised they switched and made the 21" the default.

If even one person doesn’t realize it and pays the extra $4500, I’m sure it was a worthwhile (if shady) change

For additional context, mine that is scheduled for delivery between Dec 11-Dec 31 still shows the old naming scheme. RN1152
