It beats them all at luggage space too.

But I doubt a single owner of a Ferrari, Lamborghini or any of those cars actually gives a damn.

At school there was a kid who could keep a soccer ball in the air for ages, it was a cool trick, but he never got picked for the team.

Having that instant torque is fun, but the relentless ‘a Tesla must be the best because it’s blown away. ..’ stories are frankly just boring.

Better yet, the P100D beats all 90 other supercars that have ever raced in "World's greatest drag race" in the last 7 years!!

Judging from the views in the video, I doubt much people agree with you. The "I don't give a damn" excuse sounds like what some of the losing ICE car owners would be saying, but if they ever have the chance to win, there is no doubt they will rub it in the face of the losing EV.

The good-natured owners would give a thumbs up and acknowledgement, and not make such sour grape comments. Heck some of them might even have a Tesla of their own.

Love the use of Summon; nice!

But yes: ditch the Alpha or the Vette and get a Demon out there. We all know it won't hook on an unprepared runway, but it's silly to overlook the most ridiculous muscle car available. Maybe they're waiting for 2018?

What's weird is that there's no Hellcat on the list above... are they avoiding my beloved Challengers?

Agreed. And love the "sour grapes" references around TMC lately. 2017 Investor Roundtable:General Discussion

I expect their pride will be hurt a touch, but NOBODY is surprised, the poll results say that, and posting a poll to see if anyone is surprised is frankly pathetic

Some may own both but I’d be very surprised if anyone sold their Ferrari to buy a Tesla, why is that when the Tesla can also do the school run? A neighbour of mine even has a Ferrari just so he can go away in it, driving great roads. My point is that it’s just one trick in many, a function directly linked to the nature of the technology in just the same way the technology spectacularly fails above 100mph. Pretty much every video you watch sees a Tesla get ahead quickly, within seconds the gap is being held, and then being pulled in.

Probably says more about local ideas of fun, the US think blunt straight line power over 1/4 mile is where it’s at, Europe more interested in the art of actually driving to get somewhere fast and the Far East, Japan especially, the art of car control in drifting.

Hellcat was in the race last year with a time of 11.9 second. You can see it starting at 8:10 of the video. Hellcat is WAY slower than Tesla P100D.

OK, may be the Dodge demon was skipped because it is model year 2018.
Peak acceleration 1.8G; 860 hp peak; 1/4 mile in 9.65s @140 mph. 0-60 in 2.3s.
Beautiful write up here for those with a 'demon' in their heart :)

The Demon has a kit to set it up at the track for drag racing which includes wheels and tires. It won't be as quick with street tires. Dodge is coming out with a 4 wheel drive model in the Jeep line. That will be one to watch.

The Dodge is purpose built for drag racing.

Thanks for the reference to last year's race with the Hellcat. Clearly, this isn't the surface for big power and RWD for 1/4 mile. I gave up on the pathetic (275s!) stock rear rubber and now run drag radials all the time on my Challenger HC. The car still does pretty well in the twisties, surprisingly.

Regarding Demon, yes, one can say it's "purpose built" for drag racing. Who else gives you a trans brake from the factory, and skinnies??? But the car also pulls 1.0 g on the skid pad and will brake from 60-0 better than the ACR Viper. It comes with 315 drag radial-ish tires on all four corners, and apparently uses them quite well.

Sure, the big Challengers are heavy and the front wheels don't contribute anything to your launch. But IMO they're not one-trick ponies.
