Model S Plaid huge depreciation

Cars are rarely a good investment. Selling a car in the first 12 months typically has a 25-30% depreciation and less in the following years. The longer you keep it the more value you get from it. There is some crazy pricing for hard-to-get EVs, with dealers sticking on $10-50K premiums over MSRP. At least Tesla doesn't do that. Used EV prices have also been unusually strong, especially at the lower end. Used Model 3/Y that are in demand are getting premium prices. Plaid, not so much.

You also need to consider the used car sales bubble. The best time to sell a car was earlier this year, between Jan - April. Everyone was buying your car because people were paying a premium due to the supply chain shortage. Now companies like CarMax, Carvana, and dealerships are having difficulty unloading them.
