No they couldn't as they don't have available supply of them. But the 18650s use the new formulation. (And in the past they have said the 18650 is better for power than the 2170s.)

Look's like the stalk's have been removed and there are soft buttons on the wheel for turn indicators, wipers, lights, etc.

But I don't see where gear selection has been moved.

Seems it was answered on the next scroll:

"Long Range and Plaid platforms unite powertrain and battery technologies for unrivaled performance, range and efficiency. New module and pack thermal architecture allows faster charging and gives you more power and endurance in all conditions."

Hope this means launch control for LR Models lol

I listened again, and couldn't find where he said that. The closest I heard is that he said hopefully people that just took delivery last month won't be as upset because we raised the price by $10k.

I agree...but pricing? I agreed to pay said amount for a performance vehicle...and now that the PLAID version is more expensive, i wonder how they handle it?

Lighter/better/cheaper refreshed Model S personal wishlist:
- structural pack, 4680 cells
- 250kW Supercharging with a more aggressive charge curve
- heat pump + octovalve
- bidirectional charging
- LR, 650km
- $80k CAD

2, maybe 3 out of 6. Looks awesome, but I won't personally be able to get there for that CAD price.

Love the new S overall but disappointed that the Plaid models only come with Carbon fiber trim as an option. Also the your wheel options are now down to ugly but efficient and nice looking but inefficient (21"), I much prefer the old 19" style wheels. I've heard too many horror stories with low profile tires and bent rims going over potholes.

I put down $100 on X a few days ago, but tesla just call me and told me that they can't honor the old price and they are going change my order which will be $8k more expensive ($2k less than $10k increase). Anybody experiencing the same?

I won't be taking the car for $8K more for sure. The "upgrade" seems nice but not worth the $8K.

I definitely wouldn't pay more for a bleeding edge refresh which was built around cutting costs anyways, hell-no.

I bet they did this just to avoid whining from people who missed out on the refresh - expect quick price reduction going forward as people forget about it (3 months?). Can't wait what that does to the resale value of the first batch.

I can confirm that I got an email from my advisor.

They also said that they would "Honor the FSD Price" which suggests they will increase it.

if I transition from my ordered Model S performance to the Plaid, I get $2k off....BUT!

What if i transition from Model S Performance order to the Long Range version. I am still transitioning to "new updated configuration"....but am technically downgrading a little? I'd still like to have that $2k off.
