Model S range decreased post MCU2 upgrade

My 2017 S90D was showing about 290 miles at an 80% charge prior to getting MCU2 upgrade this week.

The upgrade and the service experience was great.

But now it's showing 233 miles as the range?!

It was on the 2020.20 release before and after the upgrade, now it's on 2020.28. I double checked and it's still set to charge to 80%.

Any ideas? I logged a service call with Tesla.

Think you toggled the menu (or the default was different ) from rated to ideal?

I second the rated/ideal estimate point, and possible even a 80% vs 100% mix-up. The '17 90D has an EPA rated range of 294 miles, so I'm not sure you'd have actually been able to get 290 miles at 80%, ever. 80% of 294 puts it right at 235 miles, so 233 is a fair estimate, given a little degradation.

Duh, of course. The upgrade reset it to 'rated' range and of course I'd had it set to ideal for so long I forgot that was even an option!

I’m surprised you like it on “ideal” range. Too fantastical for me.
