Model S rear window distortion?

Looking out my rear view mirror, it appears that every car behind me is some purpose built widebody race car. (Horizontal stretch). In the side mirrors, all appears normally proportioned.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is this a thing with the model S? Or is this potentially just a defect with mine and I should schedule service?

I noticed the same, and talked to the service people when my car was in for other issues. They sat in my car and laughed at me!

Not just you. Tesla glass is rubbish, despite their YouTube video on how special it is. Don’t look diagonally across the windshield when making a turn or you’ll see all the wavy ripples, too.

To be fair, my 1986 Honda Civic had the defroster across the glass, but yes, the glass was clear.

That is a good question. I assumed it was the glass but maybe it’s the mirror itself. That might be easier to replace.

They provided zero explanation. One guy denied it, the other fell short of calling me crazy.

They’re all like that. I can tell you this for certain. The lower portion of the rear glass is like hall of mirrors terrible.

Now, if you’re seeing distortion throughout the entire glass, that’s different. Pictures would be good here.

Yeah but just the bottom 1/2 inch on my Feb 2022 MSLR. The rest of the glass is fine.

Right. If you actually go measure, it's a lot more than 1/2 inch, and it's still insanity Tesla hasn't solved this, but... it is what it is...

Wow, 3 inches ... yours is much bigger than mine. Mine doesn't even measure an inch. So I'd say it's near perfect. No race car stance distortion on vehicles behind.

i think this is normal. i've had two model s refresh, a 21' and a 22' and they both have it

Not making excuses for Tesla, but fact is that the rear glass is curved and steeply raked such that line of sight is like viewing through an angled bottle.
