Welcome rickbecker!

It almost seems as though it occurs when someone gets around to doing a batch.

This is appearing to be all but confirmed. There were a batch of us who confirmed between Mid-Sept to Mid-Oct who all received our VIN's around 10/22. Then, most of the same group flipped from "Sourcing Parts" to "In Production" around 11/3 despite our deliveries being from Mid-Novmber to Early December. Not worth losing sleep over. I'm sure the Delivery Specialists (DS) probably hate the way the updates are done since they usually result in a flurry of e-mails to confirm the changes.

Thanks for the welcome, Staze.
Someone must have just assigned a batch...I received my VIN today!!

First post...Excited.

Test Drive / Ordered / Confirmed: 11/4/2013 | RN593314 | Sourcing Parts | Delivery: Late December
S85 | Blue Metallic | Pano | 19" | Grey Nappa Leather | Piano Black | Tech

rickbecker, welcome to the forums and congrats on the order. A friend of mine has a Blue in that almost exact config (has obeche matte instead of the piano black). Its a great looking car!

Just to be clear, my delivery date is a self imposed agony based on letting my current lease expire.

Don't know if it's the same up north, but I'm on a lease, and it turned out that the Land Rover dealer wanted my car back early. In fact, they're paying me more than the residual, so I'm making money off of it. Which is great, cause I get my Tesla sooner and I would have probably gone over the mileage limit.

Too bad I don't have a landrover. Infiniti were offering me the usual early exit but of course that would be dependent on me taking another Infiniti. I haven't looked lately at the numbers (residual versus probable value) but either way I'm sorely tempted to try and move up the date. Of course if I moved up the date and then missed out on some new improvement or piece of technology that I would have got if I had waited, I'll be annoyed :)

I went through that same thought process, and then I called and had them move it up from May 2014 to as soon as possible. I to am in a lease that expires in March. Saved by my wife; who decided she wanted to keep the 2011 BMW 535i. So I used her 2008 535i as a trade on the MS. I figured if there's a tech improvement, I'll get that anyway. If there's change in design, I could keep pushing it out for years and never take delivery. So as a result of asking for an early delivery, mine will be delivered 20 Dec. Good luck with the wait gpetti, I couldn't wait.

You must be very excited and you've definitely got me thinking about it, as if lurking on these discussion forums wasn't already reducing my patience on a day by day basis. I will have to consider my options. As you point out, waiting for the latest technology would be a never ending process akin to waiting for the latest computer or tablet and then never getting the benefit of using one. To be honest the main piece of technology I had been holding out for was an AWD version of the S as there was a rumour earlier in the year that one might be forthcoming in 2014. As I gradually give up that idea (I'm much more convinced that the RWD will be OK) then I guess that I will quickly find a way to ditch my lease so I won't have to live vicariously through this forum and various you tube videos etc.
