Model S roof bars : noisy?

Hello all.
I was wondering , for those of you that have the Tesla cross bars on your model S, how much additional noise do they add when there’s nothing mounted to them ?

I think it depends on which version of the car and racks you are asking about. I can tell you on early Model S's, with the retractable roof and that version of rack, they are pretty loud. I actually took mine off because they were too loud and had about a 10-15% range hit.

The newer racks look a lot more aero, and likely have less noise, but I cannot validate because I have never used them.

I take mine on and off (which is not much fun) because of the noise. It’s very noticeable at highway speeds.

Yes the noise is substantial at speeds over 50mph on my 2021 MSP. I should have known better, since the racks are quite similar to one’s I put on my RAV4 off-road, which are very noisy at 55mph +. I thought they would be neat, but I removed and sold them.

I actually think they are pretty quiet (2021 LR+ pre-refresh). Previous car was a BMW 3-series. On that car they were crazy loud, with annoying whistling at moderate/high speeds. On my MS I leave the roof rails on year-round (kind of a PITA to remove / re-install) and the noise doesn't bother me.
