Ditto- and cringed... all at once. At first I thought it was the chase car- which sounded more like a motorcycle. Then they got into the far away shots and it was still there and I just rolled my eyes.. annoying.
That was what I thought at first but now I think the sound was added deliberately by a CBS audio engineer who just didn't realize that the Model S has essentially no "motor noise" and wanted to spice up the video.

My wife noticed the engine noise right away when the report started. I thought it was pretty damaging to mention in that segment that there was no engine and then hear a noise that sounded like an ICE trying hard to get up a mountain. At least the online version of the 60 Minutes segment is engine noise free, just as CBS said. All you hear is some wind noise and this even sounds like the actual noise they recorded. I wonder how anybody would have wanted to replace it with a fake engine rev.

If you go back and watch the online video clips now, the ICE sounds have been removed, and instead all you hear is wind. Quick response from 60 minutes. Thank you.
Also, turns out the interviewer - Scott Pelley's wife bought a Model S about 9-10 months ago. Aha, a personal connection! So he's more in the know than most.
