Model S warranty affected by tracker being installed?

Put this on the model s forum initially but wondering if it'd be better moved here as it may be UK specific...

Can anyone give me some clarity/peace of mind on this?

Basic situation is this: Buying a used model S (in the UK), and my finance provider requires that a Thatcham S6 or S7 tracker is fitted to the vehicle, and this is non-negotiable.

Is there any precedence for this leading to warranty claim issues (if needed) from Tesla UK? Tracker would be installed by a qualified specialist, sent out by the supplier fwiw.

Any advice or links pointing me in the right direction on this would be great.

If the tracker isn't wired into the car (i.e. has own battery supply) I can't see that it can have any influence on warranty claims.

It will have a backup battery, but probably charge off the car. You should assume this will void the warranty on the 12 volt battery since its not designed for continuous loads when the car is not active (maybe the install will use a better supply, but no guarantee and they won't tell you).

It depends on what level of wiring needed. If its just picking up a 12v battery feed then its less of an issue and I believe some have used a plug into the ODBC port that provides unswitched power.

However, I'm fairly sure trackers I've had also needed more, as they would proactively alert the communication centre if the car was moved when not intended (I guess that may have just been an internal GPS sesnor but it connected to a fob), and on a different car it also acted as an immobilser. But most now accept the Tesla system if you ask them, just make a note of who told you and when in case it became an issue in the future, I did it with LV via web chat and screen shot the screen.
