Model S Yoke Horn Confirmed

A much needed change, it's the only real thing I HATE about the yoke. Still unclear if pre-Nov 2021 manufactured vehicles with yoke will get this center horn update... anyone know?

Same here. My MS was manufactured: November 2021. I don't have a clue where I am in regards to the update.

I have some good news! I can activate my horn by pressing on the right side of the airbag! I don't know if this was changed in a software update or if I just hadn't tried before. I saw a video of someone doing it so I tried yesterday and it worked.

I don’t think so. Part of your hand must be hitting the capacitive button.

You're right. The heel of my hand hits the horn area of the yoke when I do that. Sorry for the confusion. It is an easier, more natural way to honk the horn when you're going straight. Prior to trying this I was using my finger to activate the horn and that takes too much attention that should be directed elsewhere. Again, sorry for the false report.

Does not work, mashing the steering yoke, the airbag, or pressing really hard anywhere but that one button. Picked up a new Model S in Jan with a supposed build date after 22-Dec

Well that’s the point. We have had software release since the announcement was made.

Someone has to write like 8000 lines of code, train the autopilot system and the neural nets first

Pretty surprised this hasn’t been activated yet. Seems like it would be a simple software tweak for the cars that have the necessary hardware.

Before Tesla, I never would have believed something so idiotic as a roaming, off-center, haptic horn “button” could exist, nor believe the hardware solution appeared yet remains unresolved nearly half a year later.

Yes, but after more research, the gateway config is also in the CAN bus if you have something to log that

Off topic but I received the car 10 months ago June 2021, driven thousands of miles and I really miss having a stalk for the turn signals. I inadvertently hit the turn signals quite often.
Maybe it is my fat fingers

It’s not your fingers; stalks are better than haptics; ergonomics matter.
