Here's how the Model X stacks up compared to the competition...obviously there'll be some debate of rolling versus standing start , but by all measures the Ludicrous version should be the fastest SUV on the planet.

All Jeep Grand Cherokees will be a bit faster in 2016 model as they have changed their suspension from cast iron to aluminum.

All manufacturers are working hard to increase performance and fuel economy. Using higher tech components are the current solution.

Trackhawk will install the 707 hp engines from their Hellcats.

Simply amazing how much power is being provided by the different manufacturers. They not only go fast in a straight line, but have impressive handling. They are also more docile at lower speeds than the previous generations of muscle cars.

Updated to include the Trackhawk and new Bentley SUV. Had to double-check the spelling a few times on the Bentley...looked up where the name comes from. Per Wikipedia, 'The name was inspired by Taiga, the world’s largest transcontinental snow forest, and is composed of the first four letters of Bentley and an altered spelling of Taiga. Bentley also drew inspiration from the rugged peak of the Roque Bentayga in Gran Canaria the subtropical Canary Island.'

Both explanations seem like a bit of a stretch to me...

One must remember that those times with ICEs probably can only be achieved with a very skilled driver and it most cases never. With the Model X however its just pedal to the medal and the rest are dust.

Lamborghini's CEO is claiming that the new Urus SUV will be the fastest/quickest SUV on the planet...

'Pressed on whether he meant quickest over a lap, flat-out, or with some other measure of performance, Winkelmann’s response was unequivocal: “In terms of top speed, in terms of acceleration, in terms of everything,” he said. “It has to be, it’s a Lamborghini.”'

That's quite the claim and will be interesting to see if it ends up holding true when it actually comes out. Looks like they'll have to target 3.1 seconds to 60 to beat the X (assuming Tesla doesn't find new ways to quicken acceleration a la launch mode in the interim).

Lamboghini Urus To Be the Fastest SUV—and the First Hybrid Lambo | Car and Driver Blog

The V8 turbo ICE that Lamborghini will need to accomplish that with the Urus will get around 10mpg and it will be an embarrassment.
Lamborghini has a 20th century mindset, but this is the 21st century. Time to move on...

No better/worse than the Hellcat, right? They set out a goal to make something ridiculous, and so they did... Won't matter, Lambo's sales don't amount to much anyway, and it will likely be a 200k$+ car which means they will get, what? less than 100 sales?

Have you been to London over the summer months? Walking along Park Lane, Knightsbridge, and through Kensington and Chelsea, you'll see a healthy handful of £300k ($450k) Aventadors in a single evening. I think the Urus could actually sell decently, as long as it's not quite as ugly/boring as the prototype. Lambos get bought because they are just totally insane, not for any rational reason.
