Model X 2015 deliveries

I was just at the Portland show room. Two pieces of information. One unsurprising (they have not the slightest idea when they will get a Model X for test drives). But the other was quite unexpected. According to the store manager, the first Model X Signature delivery in Portland happened this weekend!

Have there been any other deliveries except Sig #1/2 ?

The whisper is Tesla production line is making a significant fraction of MX vs MS, like at least 25%.
So it seems we should see perhaps a thousand of MX deliveries over the next 5 weeks.
I wonder if all parts availability issues are gone, or they just queued up enough of them to build X until it stalls again. Fingers crossed !

Someone reported that on the pdxtesla Google group yesterday, too. You? Anyway, same person then went to the service center and they denied having delivered any Model X. They're expecting the first ones in Oregon in the next week or two.

Yep, that Dirk is me...
Do you have a delivery date? If not, ask your DS... the service center doesn't appear to have exact arrival dates, but has been advised of several coming in, so yours should be on that list, right?

No specific date. I had been told to expect it the week after Christmas but then, last week, my DS told me it might be early January. Apparently those guys are almost as in the dark as we are. I can sense he's frustrated too!

Yesterday Tesla called to confirm delivery of my X, on December 29. At the San Diego Service Center.

IMHO, sounds like the 600's are getting speedy delivery if they were built 100% perfect, allowing quicker production to delivery time.

Could the lower VINs be getting retrofits to match the quality of the new builds? That is one question for my Delivery Specialist. For example, I do not remember that Elon's Model X had a dual position "Trunk Load Floor" cover. The electric lowering rear seats for cargo mode were not demonstrated either. Yet, Bonnie's #2 Signature has these features.

Another possibility is that the later Model X Signature cars were "signed off" by Elon and are able to be delivered. Maybe the factory quality is now so good, that the current process is approved for shipping without Elon's inspection.

Perhaps the early VINs couldn't be inspected by Elon recently while he was working on the Space X launch. With the success yesterday, the older Model X Signatures might get final approval now.

Or...it could be as simple as the bulk of the orders were shipped by train, and that would slow the delivery process.

And here is an added extra thought. Since many placed their orders when TSLA was a bargain, could Tesla Motors be concerned about too many selling their stock for Model X at the end of the year? Financing would help those who wish to hold onto those shares. (I didn't buy at bargain prices.)

All the above is speculation. I can only guess what is occurring when all the Tesla employees I talk to don't have any answers for the delay.

My VIN is in the 600's and lower than SOCXMAN's, and still no word. It will be a factory pickup.

Maybe Tesla is trying for a "simultaneous" delivery all over the country by building out of sequence—by a week or so—those cars that must be shipped to FL and IL.

In the meantime, I interpret Tesla's "delivery by Christmas" now to mean Russian Orthodox Christmas, 7 January. That works for me, but I'm pretty old-school.

I'm in IL and VIN 26X and no word. I guess I'd like it in good condition but not sure the market will like < 100 Model X deliveries in 2015. If it was a minor quality issue that is fixable at a service center within a month I'd be fine with that. Of course the media would not so I should be fair to Tesla and their longevity. Not likely a supply issue but who knows!

Ha! I'll tip my DES if she comes through with my SigX between regular Christmas and Regular New Year's. All will be forgiven.
I need it for two 500-mile trips in mid-January where it's almost as fast to drive as fly.

@Ross - I'd really appreciate it if you could post some pics when you get it. Your config & colors are exactly what I ordered and it would go a long way to calming the "boss's" concern about confirming sight unseen (which I did). If you'd prefer, I'd be happy to give you my email address. Thanks

How do you know Vin number or is that the same as your reservation number? I'm 11xx reservation in Austin TX and was told delivery would be before the new year in early December but now delivery people are fudging on that a bit. I did get an overnight test drive in a P90 Blue Model S last week and it was awesome. Sig X red, tan interior, 7 seats,
sub zero and tow package but w/o ludicrous.

My impression from seeing deliveries out of VIN sequence is this:

Reservation #: The sequence in which you will be invited to configure. Nothing more than that.

VIN: The sequence in which your confirmed order was converted to a VIN for Production. Nothing more than that. Doesn't mean the car is in production yet.

TM builds cars from orders in the sequence that is convenient to manufacturing - batching by color, interior colors and options on hand.
