Model X April Deliveries

Got the email today about the recall and that our X we configured is "being built with updated third row seats..." And not affected by the recall. Still can't seem to find any rhyme or reason to production and delivery order with the Model X. Gave up long ago trying to make sense of it. At this point I just want them to call me when it's 100% perfect and ready to be picked up. Not even picky about when that is anymore, soon would be nice though... And I'd prefer they take the time in final inspection and QC so I don't have to bring it back. Odd to see people with similar, or lesser configs that were supposed to take longer, put in their order after had already received my VIN. And then they take delivery while mine is still somewhere in production limbo. For a while it seemed obvious that it was California deliveries for the end of Q1 push. But now I"m seeing deliveries all over the place, in my area too, some further away... Whatever. I don't seem to care anymore because it just doesn't make sense. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise? Maybe they'll drop the 100KWh battery pack and I could take an upgrade before mine leaves the factory? That would be nice....

Also, this displays whenever I load MyTesla:

I plan on financing with Tesla but don't see the option, should I apply now at Credit Application | Tesla Motors or wait until my DS tells me to?

Send you DS an email explaining this.

Also your note above about getting ready was sent to me within 10 days of delivery. Could have been a week but I had to push it out a few days. YMMV.

You should contact your DS and ask them for the Tesla financing rates.
They'll also send you the MVPA which you need for external financing.

Will do! So far I received zero communication from my DS, Emily, at Costa Mesa (except the automated message everybody got in January). The total purchase price or estimated delivery date is still not visible on MyTesla.

Just want to make sure we are both on the same boat. I didn't receive any emails regarding my delivery, however under registration on MyTesla it now states: "Your final paperwork is being processed. If you need to make any changes to your registration information, please contact your Delivery Experience Specialist immediately so we can ensure your paperwork is accurate and prevent any delays to your delivery."

Model X design studio now shows May deliveries for new orders

Whoa. That implies one of two things - very low reservation-order conversion rates, or very rapid build ramp. Well, maybe one more thing - without removing the 90D option from the configuration, they could be prioritizing those to vacate inventory before the 100D starts shipping in May/June.

Quite interesting. 2,700 shipped to date with perhaps same in April + May would equal only 8,100.

Realize that 30K represented world wide orders but that’s a significant delta.

I'm also assuming that May estimate implies 90D or P90D orders, and wouldn't include 70D (which is now 75D, based on the design studio). Since we haven't seen one of those delivered yet, that could be a good chunk of the reservations. 30k worldwide, some percentage US, some percentage 90D or higher, and then the conversion rate could get us down to these numbers.

Still, I think this is surprising Tesla based on their previous estimates for delivery.

For what it's worth, here's an estimate I did before for someone asking about the 30k reservations vs. 2.7k deliveries gap...

All told, Tesla has sent about 7000 Model X into production at this point. (some delivered, some still in production, all 90's, all US)

The difference between that and the 30,000 reservations is: (along with my very rough estimates, very liberally rounded)
- International orders (~40% = 12,000), leaving 18,000 US reservations
- Cancellations (~10% = 2000), leaving 16,000 reservations
- Reservations waiting to Order to test drive, save up, let bugs to be fixed, etc. (~30% = 5000), leaving 11,000 reservations
- Orders for 70's (~10% = 1000), leaving 10,000 reservations
- Orders for 5 seat models (~10% = 1000), leaving 9,000 reservations

So of that very rough estimation, we would only expect around 9,000 (realistically, +/- several thousand) to be eligible for production at this point. Given that the actual number is currently 7,000 that seems wholly reasonable, especially if Tesla releases another batch of VIN's this week for any remaining 90's.

Thanks, good estimates. The thing it doesn't account for is that new orders should be flowing in as well. The 30k number is at least 3 months old. You'd assume with deliveries starting and the ability to receive a car sooner that orders would also be ramping up. It's going to be some time, but I'll be very interested to see the Q2 report and figure out what all is going on.
