Model X August Deliveries

Picked up my Model X yesterday in Fremont and I'm in love. We had to bring our 16 month old twins, which made it a very "interesting" experience for us and the very amused Tesla employees. The checklist went out the window as I watched my girls break-in our new family car in a matter of minutes... Nothing to do but laugh! (Everything cleaned up well)

Congrats! How adorable are they?

Can you imagine what cars will be like when they're ready to drive? :D

Congratulations! We had a similar experience as we had to take our 3 year old with us. I don't think I listened to a word of what the DS said. I was constantly worried about my girl walking on the white seats with her shoes on

I almost had a heart attack at first, but things got out of control pretty quickly and happy babies made the experience (a little) easier. It is our new family car after all, so I have to (try to) be a little less anal about it. Easier said than done, LOL!

@ShadowR55 I will check and let you know.

While I haven't taken delivery, I did take my whole family including my 3 yr old daughter to check out and test drive the X. Besides all the comp foods/snacks she enjoyed, she wanted to be part of the test drive, which I didn't want to take her at first because I would have to transfer her car seat over. She was crying so badly so I had no choice but to get the car seat. She was fascinated by the FWD, just like how she was when playing with an i8 at a BMW dealer. She was so happy that day and I will never forget it. Needless to say, the X was approved by both wife and daughter.

Looks like I'm out of this thread and moving to September or potentially October. My DS said my 3/4/16 Confirmed 70D VIN 117xx is still in "pre-production" and will likely be a late September delivery or maybe October. I was hoping for good news based on the earlier posts of 75D orders near or after my confirmed date and near my VIN # that I would be getting a late august delivery. WTH Tesla is up with your order/production process? They better get it straight before they start Model 3. Oh well.....:(

Lucky you! There is a better chance of getting AP2.0 hardware. How's that for a silver lining?

The saga is finally over. Got my P90DL Model X on August 1st after a very long and complicated journey.
  • May 2015: Placed reservation
  • Jan 2016: Notified that I could configure my order, BUT I had never test driven a Model X, which was important, since I had previously tried and failed to fit into a Model S (6'5" tall). Had to wait until test drive was available before ordering.
  • March 2016: Test drive available for 4 days only, but working 12-hour night shifts, and lived 85 miles away. (Tried for Sunday, but stupid Illinois doesn't allow test drives on Sunday!)
  • April 27, 2016: Finally got to test drive Model X, and ordered a couple days later.
  • June 19, 2016: Was notified that my Model X was entering production. I was told I'd be given progress updates as it moved along. This was important because I intended to get an XPEL wrap done, and wanted to take it straight from the Service Center (85 miles away) to the detailing shop (90 miles away), and they needed a 1-2 week lead time for scheduling.
(NOTE: The status on my My Tesla page never changed, even after production was complete. Just said "you're in the production queue" until after I had taken delivery.)
  • June 29, 2016: First progress update was "Your car is here and ready for pickup." Had to delay pickup, waiting for detailing shop to get me into their schedule.
  • July 11, 2016: On my way to pick up vehicle, got a call from Service Center that the detailing team had found a small flaw. Apparently the factory had chipped the paint on the lower part of driver's door (about "a fingernail sized chip"), and then touched it up with a brush. Turned back home, cancelled detailing shop appointment, and waited for Service Center to properly repair paint chip.
  • July 18, 2016: Delivery specialist from Service Center actually delivered Model X to my house (85 miles) after the paint was properly fixed, and picked up my trade-in.
  • August 1 2016: Made the 90 mile drive to Chicago to drop off vehicle for the wrap. (XPEL Ultimate, full body stealth wrap)
  • August 8, 2016: Finally got the vehicle back from Chicago Auto Pros, and am thoroughly enjoying it.
I'd like to stress that the Chicago Service Center did a fantastic job, and bent over backwards trying to accommodate me. The factory apparently decided not to put out progress updates, and I'm assuming a worker at the factory chipped the paint, and touched it up so as not to get in trouble.
