Model X Auto Open Frunk (new struts and spring)

I did this a couple weeks back and really love it. Just used the Frunk again tonight when getting a few groceries and it reminded me that I was going to post this info.

The video below is from YTer i1Tesla and show the results of his many hours of testing different struts to get the Model X to automatically fully open when the press of the FOB/screen.

I did this mod as well, and absolutely love it! I used a different strut (listed below), but with the same spec, and it works fantastic. Slightly harder to close than the weaker factory struts, but this is offset by the softer close with the new spring. I’ve Been driving with this for 4 weeks now, including a couple long highway roadtrips, and absolutely no issues. Makes life signficantly easier for the frequent grocery store runs that I do when I’ve got my hands full coming out of the store. I also used a 2 1/2 inch 19.10 lb rated Everbuilt spring from the Home Depot, which works great. Pasting in a video that I just uploaded to YouTube as well so that you have a good idea of what the mod looks like in action. Highly recommend doing this, and would call it a 1 with regards to level of difficulty on a scale of 1 to 5.
