Driving in Hong Kong vs Miami is quite a different culture. Hong Kong has just changed the FRT (First Registration Tax), so from now on, all EVs sold in HK are taxed heavily, as compared to no FRT tax at all until March 30th 2017. Sales will likely come to a halt, like it did in Denmark (similar scenario). What does this have to do with crashing cars? Quite a bit.
Since Hong Kong uses right hand drive cars, Model X has just hit the market a few months ago, just in time for a rush of deliveries of cars before the deadline of the FRT increase. As Tesla cars are quite safe both for active and passive safety, we are concerned when they are involved in accidents. You should try the traffic in Hong Kong, you would be amazed how little situation awareness (and care for other vehicles) many drivers have.
Also, due to the endless stupidity, ignorance AND arrogance of the Hong Kong Transport Department, Tesla has been forced to cripple their cars on the Hong Kong market. Not only can't we have rear facing seats in the Model S, no web browser, no calendar, but many auto pilot functions have been disabled. There is a big debate here over EVs vs ICEVs, pollution, traffic congestion - and whether the Tesla cars are "luxury cars that should be taxed heavily". It is important to show that Teslas are not only zero emission, but also much safer than other vehicles. That one picture shows a "16-seater bus", locally known by many as "suicide traps" as they are usually high up in the accident statistics (and that, for a good reason, they often drive very inconsiderate).
It's all tied together, and for us in Hong Kong, a market of less than 10,000 EVs, we do take interest in the case when one of "our" cars crashes.
Definitely relevant to Hong Kong - maybe not to Miami. But then, as already mentioned, this is the Hong Kong sub-forum.
Instead of troll post, this serves as a very good reminder for everyone in HK subforum, drive safely or everyone's insurance premium will keep rising year by year
btw, I am not sure about what happened in the first picture. For the second picture, driver fleed the scene after the "accident" which is an increasingly common practice among HK drunk driver. Usually these guys have a history of drunk driving in the past and believe they can always have control no matter what. Lesson is you don't drink before driving a car with instant torque, Tesla is not your ICE car, you simply can't control the torque under influence. Third picture, likely mixed up the go pedal and brake. So try not to step harder when things go unexpected, there's regen braking when you release everything. Step harder not just screw yourself, you screw us all...
